This game might have the shittiest combat I've seen in a while. 1v1 or 1v2 would have been nice, but when you're just a party of two and have to crowd control six different enemies all attacking at once it goes full fucking retard. Miki gets killed quicker than she can heal and sparsely throws out firebolt thus rendering her useless as fuck. When using heal items we once again have to see an animation of out character throw his/her arm into the air to signify the usage of a healing item. Enemies can still attack you in this animation thus negating the HP you just recovered.
I came for Fiore, I got what I wanted. The rest of it is shit. I'm glad Japan hated it.

Set up your roles properly to strengthen character weaknesses and learn to block, counter and sidestep and actually UTILIZE the triangle weakness system Star Ocean has in place. Abuse roles, and strong attack battle skills. You can beat the game on the hardest difficulty doing this. When you get to the end levels and bonus dungeons on the higher difficulty, all enemies get way stronger and become HP sponges that take far too long to kill if you try to use the triangle weakness system. The battle system in SO5 is built on the system used in Infinite Undiscovery, which a lot of people didn't like for some reason. I loved it, so I'm enjoying SO5. The problem with this game is there is just tons of small issues that are annoying as fuck, and when you add them all together it just makes you wonder what the fuck the developers were smoking.
The most obvious is the fucking camera. You can move it around and shit, but as soon as you do anything in a battle, the camera resets it's self. I moved it so I could fucking see, why is it resetting it's self all the fucking time?
When you go to save a game there is like 20 fucking confirmations and they all default to "no". I'm not a fucking retard, I have to select the save file, that should be enough confirmation. I don't need to confirm again with the default option being no.
Characters also talk way too fucking much in combat. Relia (who has a terrible voice actor) is constantly "[character] I'LL HELP". I got so sick of this shit I just muted character voices.
When you go to hand in a bunch of quests, you select one to complete, then instead of just going down to the next one, you get taken to the fucking middle of the quest list and need to scroll all the way back up to hand in the next one. Why the fuck?

I found this part easy as fuck I don't get why people have such a hard time. Don't auto pilot.
Use Fiore and have her cast her ultimate thing to freeze time. Switch to someone like the protag and spam Double Slash. Use Emmerson and spam X. Cast a potion everytime someone takes damage and keep everyone (especially Anne) fully healed
Just don't be braindead. I don't blame people for having a problem since everything up to then is just mashing X from afar or O up close with no thought or even need to touch the control stick.
I can't believe people have to exploit the fucking role system with some sort of special role just to do something as basic as not having someone die. Also make sure you focus on one enemy. Switch characters constantly and them all be doing strong spells against a single enemy to clear the robots one at a time.
This game's battle system would be fantastic if it was done more like FF12 or a RTS. Why aren't there auto attacks? They try to force this triangle system, but the reality is that the system doesn't matter and is basically never worth trying to make use of.
Instead I want to be able to target Emmerson and just set him to attack a specific enemy while I target Miki and tell her to cast heal. The game should have a base automation to it with you controlling things from above. It is too shallow to expect people to play it manually. There's no point. You don't even want to move your characters. The game does it for you.
