560ti. Average between 7 and 21 fps. A constant 7 during cutscenes.

I'm waiting for that sweet aftermarket rx480 or the 1060 if it's cheaper (it won't be).

Sucks cause dooms a really fun game but my shits just too old.
>>
>>343569048
how come you're getting only that low fps ?
I have a 770 and it's suppose to be only twice as fast as my old 560 and I managed to get around 70-100fps on low-med settings on the new D44M

Play DoomRL Arsenal, the thinking man's BD. Don't try to run BD with it, BD isn't the "universal upgrade patch" everyone thinks it is.

People think this? It's a fun addition to the standard Doom gameplay, but it's by no means an upgrade or replacement.

I enjoyed old DooM, new Doom, and even John Carmack's Spooky House of Dynamic Lighting that was Doom 3.

Doom 3 wasn't even bad barring the terribly slow pacing of the first few levels and the monster closet spam later on with the horribly obviously telegraphed ammo piles. Later levels got really intense once heavy hitters started showing up in waves.

Don't forget that the best track in the game is called "Rip and Tear".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6BbvCC0VI0

The fact that they have that level of reverence for the fucking comic of all things was the first sign I was in for something good.

I thought that was pretty awkwardly delivered desu. All melodramatic and super serious. It shoulda been shouted from a voice that came screaming from the depths of Hell, not that whispery shit.
>>
>>343576832
Doom 3 was pretty fuckin bad m8. It would have been an average, forgettable FPS with a few cool ideas but not enough butter over too much toast if it had been called Derrrrrm instead of Doom.
>>
I have too many games in my backlog to justify spending another $35 on a game that I'll get around to playing once it is $5 on Steam. I do plan on buying it in the next steam sale though. But I did buy the new Wolfenstein to test out my new computer because it's cheaper and I don't have a lot of modern games in my library to show what my computer can do. The memes are true, I bought an awesome graphics card (gtx 1070) and a 144hz 1440p monitor just to play older games at 144 fps kek.
>>
>>343568892
I'm playing Doom 3 BFG edition senpai.
>>
>>343577658
>All melodramatic and super serious.
I felt that was intentional. The game basically is the super serious Doom 3 universe and story starring the classic Doom (and comic book, judging by his personality) marine.
>>
>>343578027
Oh yeah I don't have any kind of argument against that. It was absolutely the intentional direction of the game. I thought it was dumb.

Thanks guys. I had been looking for that since I lost my HD.

Referring to the OP though I have been and it's fun as fuck. Just a shame that they obviously put a lot of heart and soul into the single player but the "mod tools" if you even want to call them that are pretty barebones and plain disappointing.
>>

First 2 levels are great though. Just wish I could go back and explore them while its downloading since I missed every secret but one elite guard on the second level.

I like how the UAC in this game is played so completely straight even though they are doing something so pants on head retarded like fracking HELL ITSELF for profit. And they are so business class professional about it.

Like I remember wondering why the word "Devotion to the cause" came up so much in those employee guide book data logs you find. Then I heard about the yearly "Soul Harvest"..

Did any of the original Doom games have any 'points of no return'? There was a place I couldn't get back up to in NuDoom that pissed me right off; can't think of any in classic.
>>
>>343578994
>sign up for the Revenant project today.
The fact that the UAC in this game has privatized Hell itself cracked me up. It's like a Paul Verhoeven film for how absurd it is.

I have a 760 and with the demo I average about 40-50 constant, 60 in barren areas and early 30s in heavily populated/graphical areas. Also I am using an i3 4160 and 8gb ddr3 ram.

>>343579598
Brutal Doom is still pretty fun, even with project brutality around. The latter is more demanding than the former, so BD is better for a more relaxed play session.

So what was up with the "They took my baby..." female ghost voice in Doom 3? Just for spooks or was it supposed to mean something that was eventually cut in the full release?
>>
>>343579767
Maybe that's a pre-recorded message for people who get into the "class 1" rank of UAC employees. It plays on loop, and it is established that only the higher-up employees know what's fully going on.
>>
>>343579946

I think that they actually meant for the main character to be an average worker rather than "doomguy." That's why it plays the way it does.

>>
>>343579946
Cut content wouldn't surprise me. There is a lot of stuff in Doom 3 relating to the lore, which was relegated to the files, makes it clear that the game was supposed to be more thoughtful and tackle bigger topics than the weird half-horror half-action game we got.

Doom 3 is an interesting mess, to say the least.

I literally finished playing it 20 minutes ago. Just did my first trial of killing a bunch of imps with the shotgun fast. This is the best FPS I have played since the original First Encounter Assault Recon.

>Doom 3
>classic

I guess I'm old because that game was never regarded as a classic until now. Not that I wouldn't play it right now. It's just that it's weird seeing it regarded as a classic game.

I remember seeing the previews in issues of Gamepro magazine and being like "THIS IS GOING TO CHANGE EVERYTHING."

It did not.

A new card. I have that same set up but with a 750ti and I have to set everything in low to get good fps.
>>
>>343581165

You're right, it did make other developers step-up their game. Developers of quake and unreal were made extremely nervous by it. It did change the FPS genre by making other FPS devs stop fucking around.
>>
>>343580953
This is an accurate description of it honestly.
>>
>>343580902
It made others focus on lighting engines, that's about it.
>>343580634
Nothing concrete. There are some mods which restore a few unused designs, but the original version has never had much light shined on it.
>>
>>343581639

The doom 3 engine is severely underused. It is a powerhouse that can be coded to all hell and back but fuck that, we need more games that utilize garbage party engines.

Rockets splash damage is too damn high and it doesn't do enough damage to the player. Meaning people can one shot you in point blank range without hardly damaging themselves. It's a more powerful shotgun and that's ridiculous.
