THere's still a big difference between a good healer and a bad healer though, especially as mercy or zenyatta.
I love facing mercys who don't realize how long her tether is so I can just double kill them and their target as pharah or junk.

skill rating movement is a combination of the difference between team mmr, a given player's performance and how one-sided/close the match was. gold medals and % of match on fire are likely the main metrics the game uses to judge which individuals contributed the most.
right now it fucks over mercy because she gets zero points for damage boosting and doesn't get enough points for healing, which means it's harder for her to get on fire at all. support players only get decent skill rating progress in close matches with lots of action that they still manage to win.

I think it was 7/3, I did all my placement matches in duo queue and my friend got placed 48, we then both got 3 losses in a row.
Overall I got golds in every placement match and never did badly, it's too bad the matchmaking still assumes you can carry in this game but the only thing to do with a bad team is choose a backliner and pick people off all game while your team walks back and forth at a chokepoint and occasionally randomly runs in to die.

Went 3-7 in placement matches. Ended up at rank 46. Somewhat annoyed because I had 3/4 golds in most of the games.No problem though because I quickly ranked up to 52 the next day. Hopefully I can rank up some more.
I find competitive much more fun than quick play because everyone is at the relatively same skill level and games often go really close. Gratz blizzard you knocked it out of the park first try.

it is, the stats are taken directly from the game since it has an open API. you can even see the distribution curve - it's rather sharp. there's only few hundred players in the 70+ range in the PC NA region.
there's a surprisingly small number of people playing competitive at all, so I think that's definitely part of it.

5/5 51 was the only one willing to play support and in two of those games it ended up 4v6
I played 3 placement matches so far. First one was really close loss. In a second one we had a really shitty team composition made even more shittier when our support changed to second Tracer, which left me with a dilemma if I should pick support or remain playing tank instead. Third one we was playing 5 against 6 and we even managed to win one round. Well except for the first match it was quite a bad start.
Placements went well, won 7 out of 3. Got rank 60, my friend got 65, since we've been out of placements we've been paired with terrible players in the few games we played after placements. Got 2 people twice in a row, a McCree and S76 who played that class and only that class, they died tons of times, never switched, complained about tracers and other shit. Maybe we just had a bad run......I hope so.
