I don't think it's logically possible to have game 1 and then it's sequel in the list.
If game one was perfect then for the sequel to be perfect it'd need to further the limits of perfection which means game 1 would no longer be perfect.
And if game 2 was just the same as game 1, then it's not perfect because it never added any further value as a second game.

Kid Icarus Uprising. Every aspect of the game was perfect, except for being on the 3DS. I personally didn't have any issues with the controls, but the majority did. It would have benefited better if it were on the Wii U. I wish it were compatible with the Circle Pad Pro.

The gunplay is super simple and the lack of vertical aiming blows, it looks ugly as sin without mods to get it running at a proper res with better textures, and it gets fairly repetitive in the middle.
I still love it though just for being so good at RIPPING and TEARING though, don't get me wrong, but I literally would never play it without mods these days.

Shit, all this Doom talk has me nostalgic for 90s and DOS now. Closing windows 3.1 and going into DOS for extra speed. Manually selecting the ports for the soundblaster card, not daring to autoselect because it crashed everyone's computer. I second this game.
Negative word on the controls probably put a lot of people off from playing the game, but I never found it an issue at all. These days there are 2DSes and smaller, different 3DS models to try the game on which would probably be more comfortable.
It's got some neat ideas control-wise though, involving stick tapping and flicking to make quick turns. The game feels quick and fast and has a lot of variety in the missions and level designs with a bunch of different weapons.
the game is made with all that Sakurai love of stupid little details and a healthy dose of randomness and passive challenges that make replaying it a shitton of fun. It's also fully voice acted, self-aware and charming, and has a false end that more than doubles the story's apparent initial length, and it's also much better than that current anime you like. It's got trophies and a very fun multiplayer...

The stories in all of the GTA's are like 5 hours long and poorly written with some funny banter in them. Don't even compare to games with good stories.
There are literally 3 enemies who will fight you back, police officers, army people, and gangsters. The rest are poorly animated sim people walking around which don't fight back. Dynasty warrior AI is more fun to fight against.
You are limited to a small arsenal of weapons that all function exactly the same cause its a third person shooter that is simpler than games like MGS and Arma.
Only challenge in the game is racing missions.

Link's Awakening contains a lot of backtracking, that few people would call bad.
Rayman contains a lot of backtracking, and it allows people to see levels from a new perspective, and charge up on the much needed lifes. It means difficulty downtime, which supports the pacing, given the otherwise brutal difficulty of the game.

I can only speak about GTA:SA and CTW, but I was positively surprised how the game makes clear that not a single civilian harm is necessary. Your objectives are always bad guys and/or fighting back. GTA was very different in that regard though.

Doom 1 has a better overall story in my opinion. And by story I mean level variety. All the Doom 2 levels looked the same, whereas in the first you go through the moonbase then Hell. Just a nicer package.

A little back there was a doom thread asking on how to improve the old games. I really kind of missed ways that connect the levels and move the story. Even just a single still image and a line of text between levels would have been plenty. As it was, you had a premise, a bunch of levels with very little connection and just a gradually changing theme, followed by an outro image.

If you believe that the second one improved from the first then the first one can't be a 10/10. Or you're just saying that both 1 and 2 of each respective game are exactly the same in which case 2 has no reason to be on the list because the first already did everything right and a sequel that fails to anything anything new fails at it's job as a sequel.

Your two statements kind of exclude each other a bit. Unless you suggest you could remove all cutscenes and still fully understand how you're moving from map to map, and more importantly, why you're moving from map to map.
Not blaming Doom's maps, they are solid as standalone maps. Their connection though, why and how doom guy is moving from map to map, is very hazy. You get the idea of the story through the changing map themes and map names, but it's really a bit rough. Single screens with a picture and a line of text, hell, loading screens, would have been plenty. I am >>343534301, I strongly believe if a game requires cutscenes it failed at its job. Hence the thought about single images. The player should drive the game's narrative, not the cutscenes

Level design gets really fucking simplistic and lame halfway through. Becomes a series of linear corridors to waste time between the next cutscene. I admit the first half is gold, great open maps that actually created gameplay and interesting situatios. Dialogue laughable, final act cringey as shit. When I was a kid the controls were challenging but I had fun mastering them, now I realize they're just bad.
