My girlfriend of 7 years plays vidya. We're getting married in a couple of months!
She's pretty casual but she likes a lot of games I love too like Animal Crossing, Zelda, Pokemon, etc... We're excited to get Monster Hunter in a couple of weeks to play together. Currently I've been playing Subnautica and she's been watching. We aren't going to have kids though.

No, I'll have a decent paying job, hopefully my wife will as well. If we have a kid I probably won't have any time for games because I'll be taking care of him along with the wife and struggling for like eight years until the kid gets some autonomy and can make himself a sandwich.
Around six years of age I'll ask if he wants to play some E for Everyone video games with me, or whatever game he wants to play. Around seven or so I'll hand him a DS with Super Mario 64 DS or set him up on an emulator and see if he starts to have fun, some Ocarina of Time (maybe the 3D one), but overall I'm not gonna influence him too much. He likes sportsball I'll go to sportsball practice and games. He likes math I'll encourage him to stick with it. If he likes games I'll let him play games.
Seeing as how I'm 22 now and I won't have a kid until at least the late 20s, mobile games that steal your money are gonna probably be super popular, so I'll steer him away from that. Also will try not to put him in front of a Youtube playlist with pregnant Spiderman or gummy soda bottles.

Only my father would play the early days of counter strike, deer hunter, and medal of honor. We would play together on our own pc's but when shit got tight around the house he lost interest due to working all the time. We still chat about how the games evolved and he restored a decent 2006 gaming pc and fixed it up a bit just to play cs:cz. He has only played it once in the past year. Whenever I upgrade my computer we will have long conversations about pc. Miss the gold old days of playing pc in the early 2000's.
