A short campaign and a lacking MP mode very typically means "you'll play it through once and then never touch it again".
That's a very valid criticism of a $60 videogame, especially given that its predecessors had long campaigns, excellent MP (for the time) and fantastic mod support that gave them near-endless replayability.

I'm completely fine with 10-15 hours of entertainment for 60 bucks. Since price is so subjective it should not come into play when scoring games unless it's something outrageous like 30 bucks for 1 hour.
Now if you're going to start comparing it to doom 1993 let me remind you that the 3 original episodes can be completed in way less than 5 hours and d44m has much more replayability due to upgrades which can't all be obtained so you can try something different next time, and the option to play the game without using glory kills.

Unless the campaign is organically fun. That's the case when SP and MP are almost indistinguishable, but DOOM's enemies and levels are very different between SP and MP.

Why doesn't anyone ever bring up the fact that Doom has a built in map editor that actually works pretty well. For everything you get in Doom, it's definitely worth it.
