Hey /v/ I am going over to the PC master race.

I am going to buy myself a 1070 but there are so many brands.

I was thinking of buying the 8192MB Gainward GeForce GTX 1070 Phoenix Golden Sample Aktiv PCIe 3.0 x16 (Retail).

It has GPU Takt: 1632MHz
Boost Takt: 1835MHz

and is therefore almost faster then all the other brands.

What do you guys think of gainward? And are these numbers really that important I just posted?

Pic not very related
>>
Oh sorry it is actually related. I thought thats an 1080

It doesn't really matter much now, which custom brand you buy.

MSI, Gigabyte, ASUS, EVGA. They are all OK.

And if you don't care much about the PCmaster bullshit, go with RX 480 - it has the best price/performance ratio for now.

>Gainward

Don't.
I've bought a 560Ti Golden Sample back in the day.
First one shipped completely broken with extreme artifacting from the get go so I had to replace it.
Second one broke down the same way after less than 2 years and forced me to upgrade.

That 8800 still works after 9 years and that 770 is 4th year in without any problems at all.

tl:dr Get MSI, Gigabyte , Asus, whatever just not gainward.

I'd say that the 1070 is only worth it for 1440p.

Otherwise get an aftermarket 480 or the 1060.
(480 will probably be the better for the money)

don't complain when it fucks up your motherboard

EVGA is the only correct answer.

I want to be future proof with the 1070 though...

But the EVGA one has
GPU Takt: 1594MHz
Boost Takt: 1784MHz

While the gainward has almost 100 Mhz more in both. The question now is, does it make any difference? I am not very well educated about this stuff, that´s why I have to ask..

Get a RX 480 it´s the best price/ratio card. It can be overclocked to a 980ti and costs less then half of it.

Well memed my friend
>>
>>343519756
its probably a 5-6% decrease over the gainward card but you will most likely be able to get it to 1900mhz boost through overclocking, I haven't seen a 1070 that can't hit that. Check this out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMefDq8vciU

Basically just get a card with a good cooler (not a blower fan) from a company that offers a good RMA service (EVGA, MSI, Zotac, Gigabyte)

It's irrelevant. Factory overclocks always are, because you can always do the overclocking yourself.
