What are some good squad based singleplayer FPS shooters?
I want the AI to actually be able to kill things and not just be there for scenery like in Battlefield 4.
Games like the older rainbow six 1-3, although they don't have to be overly super tactical and realistic, but it is welcome.
The Brothers in Arms series. Old but all about squad teamwork.
Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2
Squad mates are very useful and you can stage proper breaches
operation flashpoint. very realistic so if you prefer shooters like battlefield it will take some getting used to. but the squad AI is good, if you are a good commander.

I play Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising when I feel like playing a squad base game, there are a lot of customs missions for it but there is one that I really like one where you have to capture the whole island it is really good but can tend to glitch.

I'm never playing those two fucking games ever again, i absolutely refuse to deal with their bullshit fucking shotgunners in that game.
The AI will spam the absolute fuck out of them, no matter where you are, they WILL hit you, and you WILL die in one shot IMMEDIATELY.
I FUCKING HATE that god damn casino level in the first game, I haven't played the second one very much since the disc was ripped to shreds by my X360 within hours of me buying it when it came out and I never got the gumption to get it again, but it's currently free on the XONE.
I'll check it out again, but if it's anything like the first one with all the shotgunners or the occasional asshole with the AK47 that came out of the corner that you checked 10 times, Microsoft can go fuck themselves.

It pisses me off.
People always cry about the classic FPS genre being dead but between Doom 2/Quake 1 and their custom maps the genre was pretty much perfected.
Stuff like Brothers in Arms, Raven Shield and SWAT 4 are really cool, but they're flawed. The genre still had room to grow and it sucked watching them go full retard (Ghost Recon/Rainbow 6) or pure multiplayer.

To be honest soldier customization is pretty good.
Brothers in arms is best you gonna get. Full spectrum warrior is awesome too, it's not a shooter, you just kinda give orders to your squads, but I haven't seen squad interactions done as well anywhere else, and the game as a whole is really well-made and satisfying to play.
