Did this game have a single redeeming factor?
Apart from the ass obviously
>>
Well-designed environments, architecture and lightning.

This.

Wish they had more of the menory remixing parts though, those were fun
>>
>>343503156
Can't argue with this. Its like they forgot to put an actual game in there, just made it look really fucking good for a 7th gen
>>
>>343503097
Great story, great art direction, great OST, solid gameplay.
>>
>>343503631
>solid gameplay
>>
>>343503643
Yep. Get mad.
>>
>>343503156
That and the idea of memory manipulation. That could've been amazing.
>>
i thought the gameplay was alright...[(spoiler]
>>
>>343503097
i really don't remember
>>
I don't know why everyone dislikes the game. I thought the combat was pretty good and the Madame boss fight is fantastic. The soundtrack is also kinda catchy. The only thing that's really bad about the game is the small environments and mediocre platforming. I think it's underrated. Certainly worth the 6 bucks I paid for it.
>>
>single redeeming factor

The game wasn't absolute garbage. It wasn't great either. Main problem was that it had some neat ideas but didn't run with them far enough.

I think there was something dlc about it that ticked me off. Like combo moves being preorder only or something.

It was in general, an okay game.
>>
>>343503156
I'd say it looked nice. But I wouldn't say it was fun to traverse.
>>
>>343503714
It was alright. The horrific handholding and railroading between the fight sequences was jarring, though.
>>
>>343503097
not really, no

I played some of it when it was free on Playstation Plus

kinda forgettable
>>
>>343503631
>solid gameplay
Fuck off cunt
>>
>>343503356

No, like 2 of them were fun. The others were just atrocious. The very first one where you mess with the guys dream treatment was 10/10 GOAT. The later one where you need to make a fucking toy teddy bear walk around inside a shitty mini van was garbage.
>>
>>343503837
>and mad he got
>>
Great visual designs
Good music
Okay-ish combat
>>
>>343503097
music, story, presentation, writing, visual design, voice acting.
It more apt to say that the fighting in it is the single factor that needs redeeming.
>>
>>343504480
I really liked the combat, it reminded me of Oni, which I fuckin' loved. Oni 2 when.
>>
>>343503837
the platforming and exploration is solid, the combat alone is not the entirety of the gameplay, and even in the combat there was promise.
>>
>>343503728
i see what you did there
>>
>>343503097
Yes, back in the day it triggered cancer after promises of being a full sjw game

>>343503761
Street Fighter moves were DLC.

I'll admit the ability to "create" certain combos like a combo dedicated to raw power or a combo dedicated to healing was really cool.

I hope that's not a complaint anon
>>
Do we have any data about how this sold? I'm pretty curious.
>>
>>343503097
The environment, the story was interesting but lost momentum by the end, the memory manipulation was fantastic and should've been more used, the music was nice as well. But the environment was easily the best. The blend of futuristic with classical was one of the best I've seen.
>>
>>343504480
>story
The story was fucking trash. I really liked the game too, despite its flaws.
>>
>>343504891
>Already the good parts about having an arse-kicking female hero have been deeply undermined by the story set-up [the prison intro]

Isn't that kinda wrong? As in she becomes the "badass" again, by getting back her memories? By her own effort? That involves being an ass-kicking character, instead of a placeholder?

>It’s not just the camera’s constant idle return to butt shots, which – let’s face it –

Yeah, let's. Again and again.

>>343505375
Steamspy says around 660k owners, but that's only PC.
>>
I played it for a few hours, then didn't play for a month or two
When I picked it back up, for some reason the camera moved painfully slow, no matter how high I set the mouse sensitivity
0/10
>>
The dumbest part was the combos. They were so easy to interrupt that they became pointless. Especially the 8 chain ones, each time you get to about 5 hits you get knocked out of it because you're literally always surrounded
>>
>>343505889
haven't played the game in a long time but IIRC everything up to 6 or so hits was alright
otherwise you just need to work hard to isolate yourself from all but one enemy
>>
>>343503097
I actually enjoyed the game. visually it is stunning, the combat is pretty good, though the pressen assignment crap was annoying.
memory mixing was pretty good
>>

I don't know.

Funny though how there's threads here about it more often than some popular games and everyone seems to actually remember it. Ironic even.

>>343503097
You mean besides the scenery, the graphic, the story and the music? Nope.
>>
>>343507116
Is this really the first time you've seen that happen? Some people prefer KB+M because you can move the camera with perfect accuracy, while others prefer controllers because you can move your character with perfect accuracy

>plot that just meanders around, accomplishing hardly anything with boring forgettable characters.
>plot twist at the end that is as braindead and nonesensical as Enslaved Odyssey to the West
>Bamham clone combat with enemies requiring certain moves to kill that does nothing but drags shit out way longer than it should
>platforming that requires little no challenge since it's almost all automated and as such boring and just padding
>any and all interesting ideas that were wasted
>memory manipulation that were used only 3 or something times
>customizable combos that makes what moves you choose rather pointless since the only thing that matters is the ability/pressen shit
>writing that is bland as fuck or just cringe this red riding hood got a basket full of kickass

Nope. One of the most boring shit I've ever played.

You're half right, but you're also half a cunt for being so terribly wrong about these. The story was shittily paced, boring and forgettable, and the gameplay failed at being anything but generic and repetitive.

"There was promise" is the same thing as saying somebody has "great potential": nothing actually fucking happens, and you get disappointed because you were expecting something better from the content and it was never delivered.
>>
>>343509748
I assume it's a matter of what you're used to
Personally, I never understand how people can care more about having more directions to move in instead of being able to see what's going on around them by whipping the camera around.

>>343510056
It has less to do with sexism. It's just that the main target audience for video games thinks girls are icky.
That, or the bro-gamer.
I'd say they're about 80% of the market. If not more.
>>
The combat system reminded me of P.N.03, how it was kind of posey and shit. But actual combat was terrible. Trying to do any of the combos resulted in getting interrupted by the surrounding enemies, and then doing the same three button presses just to hurry it the fuck along.
>>
>>343508372
If only there were some way to combine the two.

Are you talking about the steam controller?
How does moving the camera while running in a direction and jumping at the same time even work there?
>>
It had a lot going for it. The combo system was super interesting and I liked the world and the way memories are used within it (those memory editing mini games were the best part of the game)

But it was such a bore to play. It's very much a biproduct of that generation with the Arkham-esque combat (but worse) and the Uncharted-esque mindless platforming (but worse somehow). I really wanted to finish it because I liked a lot about it but I just couldn't be bothered.

Manchildren are though.

>>343510406
wat? what consolefags want is to be able to move in any direction (because 45 degrees isn't good enough for them for some reason), not move less hard in one direction
>>
>>343510519
but you can do that with WASD by changing what keys you press as you move, you can totally 360 degrees with keyboard
>>
>>343510510
Yeah, but they usually pirate. So they're a non-factor.
>>
>>343510659
you can run in a janky circle, sure
the point is to go "oh no there's an attack incoming, I definitely need to dodge at exactly a 101 degree angle"
no I don't understand it either
