I think it's sort of implied that it's always been sentient. Magalor was probably controlling it up until the end. He said the ship was created by the same people that created the Nova, which is another giant, sentient being.

Magalor was possessed by the crown, and its influence was presumably destroyed after Kirby fucks his shit royally.Magalor alludes to this himself in the Anniversary Collection, saying something to the effect of "Yeah, I went a little nuts for while but thanks to Kirby everything's okay now haha!" It's not that huge a stretch to assume Kirby would still forgive him.

Marx was using internal power, boosted by Nova, which was destroyed spectacularly, and with it, Marx's resilience.

If you just want to beat it, use hammer. Hammer's down attack and dash attack are fully invincible. The dashing jump attack is incredibly powerful and easily spammable.
If you want to play the game in a manner in which you actually have to fight the boss, just don't use abilities and actually interact with their pattern. A bit of that and even if you can't beat it, you'll probably be more familiar with the bosses and have an easier time beating it with an ability.

If you're using the strongest weapon and know which attacks make you invincible, then you just need to learn the bosses. Which bosses do you lose the most health to? Usually people don't just steadily decline toward failure, there are specific bosses that eat up the most of their health bar, even if it isn't the one they always die to.
Did they ever show Sectonia's true form in Triple Deluxe or is this the first and only glimpse?

The holo bosses have lower HP so you should be able to melt ice dragon almost before he starts moving with hammer. He wither always, or almost always, just does the run back and forth across the arena attack first thing. Back off when his health fills up and just dash attack through him as he passes. I have trouble judging when the defense api is hittable too, but I imagine that isn't really a damage concern.

Having beat KSSU True Arena on the Barebones Run, I will say that fighting using Stars is the best way to learn boss strategy and hitboxes, because you learn how the devs wanted you to beat the bosses, instead of spazzing out abilities (Metaknight and Galacta Knight punishing come to mind, thus all these stupid complaints about PR Galacta Knight difficulty suddenly make sense).

That's not official, yet. If NOVA is an early model given how basic its communications protocol is along with its lack of detachable parts and such, they may have mass-produced the early model to achieve greater effects across their universe.
And yes, True Arenas, Meta Knightmare, Dedede modes, none of that is canon. None of their effects to Pop Star and the Kirby Universe remain. Galacta Knight has also not occurred anywhere outside of these games. Given PR's True Arena, even, you might consider these alternate realities.

The game says he and Sectonia were close friends, so it's not like he was some unwashed peasant. Magalor also has a painting in that room and we still don't know how he ties into all this.I reckon he always had evil intentions and brought the Dimension Mirror to Floralia, knowing it would corrupt the queen. It's pretty obvious that he belongs to the same species as Taranza and Sectonia. I'm sure he had a hand in the events in Robobot, too. The eyes could be the set of eyes on their foreheads. Remember they're an insect-like race. The rest of his face is always shrouded, so we never see what's underneath.

I think everything else checks out, though. He floats. Dismembered hands. Wears similar attire. The hood looks like it's concealing horns. Magalor Soul even has at least one set of horns that looks like it should naturally be there, despite the twisted corruption of them. It would explain his oddly specific cameo in Triple Deluxe.
