I don't like controllers (or the Playstation controller) With the analog sticks right next to each other.
Unless you have tiny hands your thumbs get cramped up in that position. The Xbox design of having one stick up high and one low is pretty dank.

No it isn't. The logical placement is to have both hands in their most comfortable position for the most used inputs. If you think the lower position is the most comfortable position, then your right hand, which has to be on the face buttons, is wrong. If you think the upper position is the most comfortable position, then the left hand, which has to be on the left stick, is wrong.
Asymmetrical stick positions make most sense, because the right stick is secondary to the face buttons.

Nobody fucking plays FPS games on PC with a controller. But in any case, sticks on the same level is the best. 3D games don't suffer from this and 2D games don't suffer from having the Dpad on a different level than the buttons.

How is the Logitech controller? I imagine this would be the Jack of all trades, master of none for PC games, since it uses Xbox prompts (as most console ports do) as well as supporting DInput for older games and surprisingly shitty ports (like that Samurai Warriors 4-II game, seriously how does KT manage that). both thumbs are on sticks in most games besides fighters id say. and if you play fighters then your thumbs will be on an even plane on either wii u or ps controllers because you will be using the dpad. that or you have a fight stick instead.
in shooters you have your thumbs glued to the sticks. in adventure games and rpgs youre mostly walking and looking. moving your thumb to press the buttons is the same as moving it to move the camera on an xbox controller except you keep your thumb on the camera for most of the time. like if you play dark souls you fight with the shoulder buttons so the face buttons being up negatively impacts you unless your freak thumbs feel better stretched down.
id say the wii u controller is better overall if you feel more comfortable with your thumbs on the top sticks because the face buttons are rarely used in most games or only come into heavy use when you would be better off with both thumbs down on the dpad and buttons like in platformers or fighters
