It is complete shit now, but back then, right when it came out, it was amazing. I had some great times playing this.
The mod is so much better. Not very active anymore though.
Unfortunately development is very, very slow and when there is a patch more often then not it does not add much, 0.60 was a great update but it's still not without its errors.
As shit as it can be I can't help but love it, plus it's a bit better when you play on RP servers.

Its alright but the fact that its STILL in development is sad for what it was. It taught us all of the dangers of early access. My lesson was I can get all the enjoyment I ever will out of a game before they finish it. I had fun playing DayZ but after 200 hours I don't want to play it any more. Whenever it finally releases (and mod support is enabled so players can un-fuck the retarded decisions they've made regarding loot, especially vehicles) there will probably be a reason to play it but its still a barren game with less full servers every month and absolutely no punishment/reward for killing other players.

Should I bother playing Standalone again? Are there even any zombies or is it still just a shitty PvP fest where zombies are only rare, pointless objects?
Also, if anyone knows. What are optimal PvP settings, to possibly remove bushes, trees, spot people first, etc? My game already has annoying LOD popin issues, so might as well make it look even worse for a benefit at least.
