Yeah I don't know why they boosted defense instead of lowered accuracy of the attacker, standing directly behind an enemy shock trooper and hitting him with 3 turns worth of machine gun fire only for him to survive and kill your character in one turn is fucking garbage.

You were pretty much forced to grenade them out of cover if you had any intention of killing them.
It's so dumb that a headshot with a sniper would barely scratch a simple recruit just because he has sandbags in front of him.
Also, adding weak spots for tanks to be taken down but bullets was retarded. What's the point of lancers when you can buff a scout into oblivion and find a good spot to one-shot everyone and everything with all your action points?

VC1 has some broken mechanics. Luckily they fixed a lot of them in VC2. Sadly they also introduced other bullshit and completely fucked up the setting and characters.
