Arcade CRTs are better.
I'm getting a New Net City cabinet this month with a 29" tri-sync display.

Gonna put a Thinkpad W500 laptop inside it and run MAME/Emulators.

It also comes with a Naomi, so I might get a NetDIMM and a Rapberry Pi and boot some games off that. Would be neat to have a MVC2 or Ikaruga cab.

CRT is a much better technology than LCD.

1) Perfect black levels
2) Flawless off-axis viewing
3) Much faster refresh rate than LCD
4) Warmer, more natural image (thanks to scan lines and small granules)
5) Far longer life-span
6) Not subject to manufacture problems such as dead-pixels
7) Good range of compatibility with lower or non-standard resolutions without blurring

Given ultimate space and money the world's best CRT could easily crush the world's best LCD. So tell me /v/, why do you like your inferior screens that companies such as Samsung have brainwashed you to think is better than what already existed? The only cost-savings are on their end.

And the funny thing is you guys keep buying this crappy LCD technology and giving away your free CRTs on Craigslist. A fool and his dollar are soon parted I guess.

And before you start yapping about IPS panels:
Enjoy your slow G2G response to switch pixels already, not to mention that hidden input and scalar lag. Luckily, CRT has no such bullshit.

The only semi-legitimate point I've heard against CRTs regards weight, but you don't bitch about the weight of a prospective couch while furniture shopping, do you? Didn't think so.

Yes. But what I mean is that I want to play Killer Instinct on XBONE but it's just pure HDMI so I can't connect it like I have my PS3/360 connected to my CRT. I have to get a LCD if I want to play XBONE. Unless there's some sort of converter or adapter to use my CRT for XB.

They produce scanlines, but you don't get any phosfers, so you won't get anything like composite blur or any other specific neat tricks.

Playing on actual hardware is good only for 5th generation and below.
Playing anything past the 6th Generation on actual hardware and TV is utter trash.
I canĀ“t stand using my ps2 anymore thanks to Emulation internal resolution scaling.
Still , Actual hardware is better when it comes to control accurracy and response time.

False.
It still improves the likelihood of a refresh occuring in better timing with the framerate.
High framerate is better of course, but a high refresh rate still improves overall latency when sub-120fps.

>don't like "retro spaces"
>don't like CRTs

And I am not entirely sure why either are so popular. That said, I have a nice, modern TV with pretty damn good latency when in gamemode, and I'm getting a framemister soon. Already got several JP21 cables for it and I kept all the consoles from my childhood in perfect, working order. I think I'll be happy with my setup when it is done.
>>
>>343469283

But buying a 120hz display just to get sub 100 is just dumb.

That's the logic of it.
>>
>>343469283
>>343469668

That's simple logic, but why buy a 120hz display if you can't maintain near that refresh rate, or even above 100.

What you want to do is buy a 120hz display with Freesync or Gsync which fixes everything, tearing is a moot point, fixes other issues, and you'll see refresh rates higher than 60 if your framerate goes that higher.
>>
>>343468979

>>

If you are going to advise other people to do shit, at least get your facts straight instead of memeing a bunch of shit you saw on /v/.
/v/ is one of the most technologically retarded boards on 4chan, because people think they know shit when they don't.
>>
>>343469880

If you use the 120hz for consoles you'll be forcing the same frames to be displayed multiple times since no console game is going to run above 60, and most will run at 30, which actually won't look right.

But IIRC 120hz tv's aren't actually capable of displaying 120 individual frames (even if the source content was that high), I think that concept is that it makes the motion smoother due to progressive scanning and related things.
>>
>>343469880

Yes, assuming you can connect them and they display the resolutions you want.
>>
>>343470364
ok so just use this 60hz for all my consoles, then when I get serious about spending a lot on a gaming pc then I buy a 120hz or 144hz monitor, yes?
>>
>>343470842

120 makes more sense than 144, but keep in mind depending on the game you'll need serious hardware.

Research for the future and see if you want freesync or gsync.

If you want those instant CRT response times research UMLB/lightboost displays.
