I liked it a lot... but maybe that's because I played it when I was trying to 'play' through Uncharted 4 and gave up out of boredom. Regardless, I thought the combat was fucking surprisingly satisfying. The level design was also pretty fucking decent and the level up system was well thought out and gave it some exploration value.
The problems I had with it was it was too fucking short. Also a bit too easy, even on the hardest difficulty, and using console analog controls. They needed a higher difficulty setting for sure it was over way too quickly.

The game is alright, i just don't like how it breaks the action for whatever scripited cutscene, those scenes are longer than the combat actually was, i also liked the secret tombs a lot, i just wished the game had more of those.
People say it is better than Uncharted but honestly it is on the same level if not a little lower.
The multiplayer is dead and half of the game's trophies are based on MP.

Original Tomb Raider games tried making up for their sluggish, terrible gameplay by focusing the marketing on the fact that Lara Croft was a titty monster in a tank top and short shorts. It was the original blatant pandering series and thirsty retards fell for it hook, line, and sinker.
Fanservice is fine, but Tomb Raider was a series built entirely on fanservice since it had nothing of worth to contribute as far as gameplay was concerned.

As for the game(s) themselves, I liked the first one well enough. It's not a deep or hard game, only puzzle I couldn't figure out was one that often broke, but it was a good start. Playing the second one now and I'm liking it more. The crafting system is pretty good in both games, and the presence of more dangerous animals (bears, snow leopards, etc.) can make things intense if you're not careful.

There are as many if not more enemies, which offers the potential for as many if not more firefights. Animals also respawn and need to be hunted for materials. Pelts are an important part in crafting some equipment, particularly pouches, as well as outfits.

They were intended to be, the lead writer had planned it but late in development the rest of the team vetoed the idea so their planned conclusion together was rewritten to remove all the love elements, but the entire early game wasn't changed and still hints at it, hence why you're asking this question.
Since Sam was a planned love interest but had her entire purpose killed by the rest of the team, they instead just wrote her off as going insane due to Himiko's temporary possession and she was put in an insane asylum shortly before Rise of the Tomb Raider.

TR is more like TLOU in that you use walls and obstacles to keep the enemy's line of sight off you just by standing or crouching behind them

It's a survival game where you can modify military grade equipment using literal garbage labeled as generic "salvage" materials found in crates left in this century old abandonned island.
There's also the amazing stealth system that comprises insta killing enemies that spawn with their backs to where you come from and will instantly locate and fire at you when you one-shot a guard from 50m in a dark forest at night.

I think Tomb Raider takes elements from uncharted (exploration, combat, set pieces) and does them better, as well as expanding upon them and adding new things such as more open environments, upgrade able weapons, more game mechanics, metriodvania-esq exploration/gadgets, etc.
That is my argument. Of course this is all opinion but I have more of an argument than "hurr you're an idiot".
