Berserk getting shitty adaptations is not a new thing. The first TV series had cut content (one such omission causes a plot hole that requires watchers to read the manga to know what happened), and had barely any animation.
The movies pacing was even worse, and had pretty bag cgi. The non-cgi parts were actually pretty good though and it just makes me wish the whole movie was like that. And the Eclipse was pretty good. And it being a movie trilogy meant they didn't have to censor stuff like like they would for most TV.
This one will probably have shit pacing, cut content, and awful cgi.
But at least all three adaptations had god-tier OST.Even the dubs are pretty good aside from the usual problem dubs have with young girls and little kids.

CG might have worked had Japan any talented CG artists in any reasonable amount. There's a small handful of works that do well with it, the best one being a couple short films. And sadly they're not seeming to be educating the rest on how to work a 3d program to save their life.
While I myself will prefer an amazing hand-drawn animation to an amazing cel-shaded cg animation. It's not that hand-drawn is ALWAYS better, there's plenty of absolutely dog shit hand-drawn works, and in some hands Cel shaded CG can really shine(almost fucking never but actually look harder and you will find a few)
All this being said, the animation in berserk is absolutely dogshit for what they could have done. The CG could have gotten a passing grade if the animator hadn't been such a failure. At least then you'd have some animations with weight instead of the cheapest shit I've seen from anime in recent years.
In a perfect world we'd have the quality of those hand drawn 90s movies with those amazing animators, but in this market I would have at least accepted good 3d animation on these CG models.

I've only read the Manga, and recently watched the films. I felt the films were pretty decent adaptatione all things considered, though I agree about the CGI.

It was one of the best. In Black Swordsman, Guts was only verbally edgy and he came off as more of an asshole than a guy who had completely lost it and was hellbent on revenge. In Lost Children he's not only sympathetic and human in his behavior, he's also monstrous. It's also the first time we see the hound within Guts and his willingness to block out his emotions in order to assure that the Apostles die. Rosine's backstory and the fight itself are also brilliant and the brutality of it all is contrasted well by the beautiful location it takes place in.
All that said, I'm glad they cut it. I wouldn't want to see it desecrated in this shitty adaptation. The Tower of Conviction is probably my favorite arc on Berserk, and I dread to see them ruin it.
