There is literally no reason to ever stop pressing E whenever possible, the boost even carries over Shift and the cooldown is laughably short.
There is also no reason to ever stop jumping like a madman around the team since the only mission is to stay alive.
Spam left click in the general direction of the enemy team, it won't get you gold damage done but it's good for keeping them away - the only exception is to always try to have ammo for a right click if there are environmental kills around or you need to get someone off your neck.
Use speed when getting your team to the point, in clusterfuck encounters, or when someone on the enemy team activates an avoidable ultimate (Junkrat, D.Va, McCree etc) - otherwise keep it on healing.
Lucio is one of the easiest heroes in the game, while being an invaluable credit to the team so you can hardly fuck him up, good luck and have fun.

It's really dependent on the team you get. Just keep a close eye on their healthbars. If they're close to full health, it doesn't hurt to have speed on.
Speed is to prevent damage. Healing is to recover damage.

Be brave. Be doublebrave when amp is up because you can fucking fly away from any bad situation.
If all of your stuff is off cooldown the only excuse you have for dying is being flat-footed by an ultimate. Otherwise, you can just rightclick, amp, and fuck off.
You do 64 damage per second if all 4 of your projectiles hit. You're not weak. You can take a lot of people, especially people with hitscan weapons - your hitbox is a fucking wet noodle and you're fast as hell, it's hard as fuck to hit you.
Also, use the pushback aggressively as much as you can. Nobody expects Lucio to suddenly boost out of their ass and blast them into the enemy team. It works so often it's gross.

It's fine to spam like a motherfucker when there's no one to properly engage but after I spent a few nights practicing proper aim I can fucking mop the floor with people all of a sudden. How do you play him?
My friends keep saying I play him too aggressively.
I tend to conc jump on the objective and spam everyone like a madman. Usually get 1-2 kills and then die, quite often getting another kill with the death grenades.
Sometimes I live and kill everyone, too. Those are great.

This, spamming is natural for his character and helps spread the team out and take cover away from the objective, but getting in there and just hitting them directly is always a good move, maybe toss that mine at their face and blow them away and then lay a trap just in case they alive so when they try to chase you around the corner they get stuck.
People say he's just a noobtube character with no skill required, but there are good Junkrats and TERRIBLE Junkrats out there.

I dont see what everyones on abou heret. You can clearly see the hook connect before lucio gets behind the wall, even on lucios screen his ass is still out the door when directional damage indicates he has been hooked. There are a few frames of movement between each player, because of lag, but no matter how you look at it that hook got him before he was behind the wall.
I mean honestly the hook is suppose to root you on contact, the fact that lucio was still moving and got behind the wall is a bigger problem if anything.
My regular rankings with Lucio are pretty solid I think.

A lot of people overuse the healing aura when a speedboost would be better. It gives teammates better evasion preventing them from getting hurt in the first place, and allows them to position better. Only use the healing aura when someone is actually hurt, or your near stationary heroes (snipers & bastion). Your E allows you to quickly top people off and switch back to speedboost. Spam your gun. Use alt fire to knock people off edges. Move unpredictably. Ultimate is best used when teammates are grouped and going to make a push but can also be used as a counter to enemy ults.

Personally I don't think there are characters locked to attack or defense besides symmetra. Molten core turret on top of a payload is disgusting and a junkrat can fuck up any defenses that a defense team has setup without getting in LoS if he's good. So long story short unless someone is picking symmetra on attack you should probably just let them do their shit.
