Paid $30 for Doom and ran through the single player campaign twice in about 20 hours and felt like I got my money's worth. Paid $40 for Overwatch and I've played it for 90 hours so far. I actually went back and bought the founder's edition just for the exclusive skins because I like the game that much. Overwatch is a well-made game the same way a Honda Civic is a well-made car. There's nothing wrong with it and it's a very good example of what it's looking to do, but it has no soul or personality. It's a game made by committee, including a character or play style for every demographic marketing could identify played team-based shooters. For the waifu squad there's a bunch of sexy girls. For the tumblr crew there's a fat and muscular chick. For the edgemaster brigade there's a cowboy and whatever you would call Reaper. For the russians there's Roadhog. For the dudebro Call of Duty army there's Soldier 76 and Bastion. Basically every character was designed by someone who very likely wears a suit and had a description of the sort of player this character is supposed to appeal to, which is especially evident when you start to look at the clunky sense of balance and toothless ability kits.
Compare this to TF2, which started as a mod made by a bunch of computer geeks and was developed again in much the same way. If Overwatch is the Honda Civic of video games TF2 is something like the DMC-12, with the latter being a peculiar but interesting and endearing work of personalized passion. Valve wasn't always obsessed with microtransactions or crate-key systems and TF2 shows this, which is why it feels so much better than Overwatch even now.

No, there isn't. Nigger I've played competitive FPS games forever and played this one in Beta and retail with a fairly dedicated team a lot, but there just isn't much to it. The "depth" mostly comes from team composition, but the skill ceiling is extremely low and the way the game works means even bad plays get rewarded. The lack of scoreboard or the fact that hackers barely have an impact aren't telling you anything? It's not bad, just simple.

Because the game allows them by design, this game does not. Not sure why you mashed together LoL (which also doesn't allow connecting to any other servers except official), SimCity (which is online only just for the license check) and WoW (Which allows for different servers for bugtesting). WoW private servers also didn't pop up in the first 3 weeks and even today are not 100% stable.
People compare this to league, I wish it was as based as league was. Blizzard needs to step the fuck up on characters and skins soon, there's like 5 good skins the rest are trash.

The hitboxes are pretty standard for hitscan, and pretty similar to Tf2's for projectile weapons, main different being that OW has more projectile weapons that can headshot so it's more noticeable.
As for the netcode, it's perfectly average, serviceable fps netcode, aside from the shitty tickrate, which makes a difference, but nowhere near the difference imagined by /v/'s armchair networking experts.

this isn't an issue and the hanzo thing isn't an issue. hitboxes don't need to reflect the model. this is done for gameplay reasons
