Sakurai can say whatever he wants but in 1999 when Smash was made, Sakurai's involvement in the Kirby series was already lessening. He had nothing to do with the very canon Kirby's Dream Land 3, for instance, he can't just claim that when the games themselves don't support that claim. See, the thing about many video games is that what you see is just an abstraction of the "reality" that happens in-universe. For instance, when you grab a coin or power-up or kill an enemy and you see a number appear showing points, that number doesn't actually show up in the game's reality. Similarly, levels and stats in RPGs don't also show up or get treated literally by the inhabitants of those worlds. In the case of Kirby presented here, I think that the heights presented are supposed to be relative sizes, not absolute sizes. Kirby is smaller than just about everybody, which fits with the 8 inch narrative. This would also explain why characters can be different absolute heights across games and series; Olimar is the size of a quarter in Pikmin, but he's only about half Samus' height in Smash Bros, because again, all that really matters is that Olimar LOOK small.

In a way I'm glad the best villains won't return. They'd lose some of their mystique if they're dug up again and slapped on the latest games for fan service, they'd lose some of their charm because you know they won't get it totally right. Hell even the Dark Matter clone cameo fight garnered up plenty of criticism for its execution, thought I thought it was neat I can see where they're coming from. I feel especially strongly about Zero this way, I really hope he won't return.

I wish the enemies that were helpers would keep using the enemy palettes from Super Star. Except Dees and Doos, who could just be more red if helpers ever return.
Some enemies do, like chilly and rocky (kind of), but most like Knuckles Joes don't. I always liked to think of a helper as an individual who is friend's with Kirby, so it's a bit weird to see them used as common enemies when the recolors were fine. I think it's especially dumb that like every Wheelie has the seat now, they used to just be regular wheels with eyes, made the helper version more special.
