Play random people in Velen. Look up where the spy and decoy cards are.
Just get all the decoys and spies you can and buy every card from every merchant that sells them.
Gwent doesn't take insane amounts of skill, the odds are, if you draw enough spies and decoys thanks to good RNG and you have overall better cards you'll win.
Do the Gwent quests and don't get memed on by Stjepan. The Nilfgaard deck is incredibly overpowered, swap over to it once you get decent cards.

Played through the main quest yesterday for the first time. There was this shitty feeling of urgency throughout, like I had to get this over with. I really enjoyed the contract work tho.
The animation blendspaces felt weird, didn't like the combat or the batman-vision either. And even though I can't find much replay value, there's nothing else like it, it's such a satisfying game I loved it.

A game doesn't need gratuitous nudity to try and sell. It should do so for its own merits. Games that do are just shitty piece of commercializations that obviously cannot stand on its own and must resort to pandering to horny consumers in order to sell. This game is garbage and the fact that it is even a candidate for GOTY is what is wrong with the industry. When we can finally include everybody into the fold without making anyone feel uncomfortable or left out is when we can finally say the medium has evolved beyond the playthings of a child. Until then, games like these should be shunned and called out for what they are: degenerate pieces of filth that does nothing but mires our hobby in controversy and exclusions.

I enjoyed the game much, much more after shrinking the hud, setting movement to alternate and turning off that fucking fisheye effect. I mean, I'm glad that I even have those options but for fucks sake. Great's voice is shit too, suffers from "post-9/11 batman" grittiness that sounds like shit. Doesn't help that he talks to himself all the goddamn time, an internal monologue would have been much easier to tolerate.

Northern Realms is the second best deck, but they have a real bad weakness to Nilfgaard. Northern Realms doesn't have nearly as many medics, since Nilfgaard can have 4-5 medics, they can use your spy cards better then you can. The best counter you have is just to have more decoys in your deck.
Monster deck is the only deck that can counter Nilfgaard, the faction makes a auto win round impossible. You also just can't drop rounds to them as they can put up some very strong fields for at least 2 rounds.
If you don't draw at least two spies as a nilfgaard deck, you are in for a bad time for any sufficiently powerful monster deck

In terms of just raw power? She is a contender, she adds 22 damage to the board with 12 of the damage can be commander horned.
The problem with her is the same all other rally cards, they become significantly less useful the more of them you draw.
The single best card is probably still avallac. Avallac can be used in any deck and is a hero spy with 0 strength, which means your opponent can't decoy him or revive him and he adds nothing to their strength card. In Nilfgaard deck, Avallac is worse then the other spy cards because your shenanigans don't work with him and he is only a solid plus one, which is still fantastic, but you'd rather have the other spy cards.

Gwent hardly takes any skill unless it's a rare case where both opponents have an even, matched deck.
It's unbalanced as fuck, it relies way more on RNG than actual strategy. Certain cards are just flat out better than others. It's just a matter of who has the overall highest str cards, along with the most spies and decoys.

Stay with Northern Realms until you're swimming in Nilfgaard cards, then swap to over.
Play random people for their cards, buy all the cards from vendors. Go check if there are any other quest Gwent players in Velen to beat if you can't beat The Baron.
And if you're up for it, rush to Novigrad and buy all the cards there, pretty sure the Brothel Innkeeper sells the second 8 str catapult.
