You've got a surprisingly large number of hotkeys when you enable some of the extra crossbar options with a controller.
There are still issues though, like having to drop the controller to type and though there's enough hotkey slots for most all of your skills, there's limited extra room for any macros you may want to make use of.

ok Nigga Tank is easily the easiest job in ff14. Healer is also the hardest because like you just said the fights are balanced around that the healer has to put off some dps, so they never have a moment down. And also they need to dodge the mecanics just like everyone else, and they require just as most fight knowledge so they can prevent / heal damage on time and not fuck up.
Tank has to do damage as well, but their rotation even taking consideration aggro management are the easiest in the games. They also have less mechanics to worry about in average. Sure, they have a unique role of managing monster placement, but its not that difficult.

Literally no fight is designed with healer DPS in mind at intended ilvl. The thing is that people do content below intended ilvl (and DPS aren't as hot shit with 70+ms vs <5ms inhouse testing) when it comes to situations where healer DPS actually makes a difference of making it or not (raiding).
Above situation is also something that never happens for 99.9% of the players. Even people who do raid, majority of them have healer DPS make up for the fact that their own DPS (and tanks) perform below expected potential. I'm talking about relevant content, aka 8 players extreme / savage content, 4 players content or raids that arent extreme or savage. Those doesn't count. They are made for casuals and aren't challenging in any ways whatsoever.
All the dps required to passes checks can be documented and quantified. Also, performance per classes and ilvl is also documented, so you can know if a certain class is doing subpar dps in a certain ilvl range. That said, with all this informations, you have a ton of fights that require healers to do dps. Maybe not at all time, and usually you take a healer (usually scholar) and make him dps most of the time in the fight where it can be (intentionally) solo healed (usually ast/whm). The point I'm getting at, is that the healer dps, that can be aroun 40-50% of that of a well performing dps, IS required to pass some checks, along side with the dps of the tanks and the dps of the , well, dps. It's not up to opinion, it is mathematical facts.

Even savage is designed without healer DPS in mind. The problem again is that people challenge the content below the ilvl it's designed to be cleared at, and clear it because of healer DPS (and general overperforming of what SE has put in that they expect to clear it). The biggest fucking roadblock of this was A3S and literally no one thought it was a good design because it was so cockblocked by ilvl that even if healers added DPS they couldn't do it because they lacked the HP to survive the mechanics themselves. A4S was similar but then people found out they could just cheese two of the biggest mechanics of the fight and save a ton of time to just focus on DPSin the boss instead of dealing with said mechanics.

I have literally never seen a Paladin tank competently
The best one I saw had half the DPS of the white mage. The white mage had gear 30 ilvls lower.
Last night I did Steps of Faith for the first time and we failed it because the Paladin didn't pull mobs in front of the cannons (although it was also because the healers weren't healing anyone)
I once got matched with a paladin who just used Flash and autoattacks, the BLM ended up tanking 90% of the mobs and I (as DRG) tanked the bosses

I keep trying to do this but keep resubbing when a big patch hits anyway.
