It is a very flawed but still quite fun series. Most people can acknowledge it's short comings and appreciate it as a whole unless you're one of those types who needs great gameplay above all else, in which case you might not enjoy it as much.

ME3's story arch was way too inconsistent for my liking. One story arch had you spend 20 minutes prepping to kill one Reaper, fast forward 5 hours, the Reapers are dropping like flies. Even the quality of them, there's only 3 missions that stand out, the rest are kind of forgettable.

One has the best story and likable main characters, but shit gameplay, awful menus and garbage copy pasted side quests.
Two has better gameplay and best cast, focus more on individual characters personal stories, main story almost pushed into the background because of it. Still ME's best aspectbis its characters so that really goes in 2's favour.
3 has best gameplay and cool new mechanics and fun character interactions on the ship, but the main story suffered hard with tonsofdumb moments. At least Tuchanka was good. Ending jumps the shark so unbelivably hard the series had to retreat to another galaxy to escape it.
Good multiplayer tho, really takes advantage of ME3s gameplay improvements and enemy variety.
