It's not like 3D Land is a bad game. It's just a very safe game. It uses the 3D gimmick of the 3DS a lot, and to the games credit it actually does look good, but it gets old.

New Super Mario Bros 2 is also average. It's what you would expect from a modern Mario game. They aren't difficult at all, but they are somewhat enjoyable.

New Island had real potential to be awesome. The level design was good, but all the bosses were lame, slow, and easy. None of them used one iota of creativity.

When it comes to platformers, the Mario games on the 3DS are really bland. They're all far too easy, and there isn't much about them that really makes them fun and engaging to play. They're just simply bland and unimaginative.
