Am i too old for gaming?
Im 27 and i hardly enjoy playing anymore. I just bought a bunch of games on steam sale and played them for like 5 minutes each.
When i arive at home in the evening i start up overwatch or other casual games and play for like 1 hour before i lose interest.
2 jears ago i could play 10 hours straight without even thinking about wasting time.
burned out gamer thread i guess.

too old? no
burned out? yes
or maybe you bought crappy games?
>>343284880
You might just be depressed.

Something that makes me feel guilty: these days, I will usually turn on God Mode if a game gives me the option. I love exploring games and quests and dungeons, but dying just feels like a nuisance. Is this a symptom of getting older, or am I just super casual? I just care more about the atmosphere and lore of the world and starting to care less about stat management and resource management.
1 hour of gaming a day is perfectly healthy. it means you're spending your time more productively. gaming for 10 hours straight is abnormal and a sign of serious depression.
you're better off now than you were two years ago.

maybe you shouldn't be playing shit games like overshit then
your brain is obviously craving something more sophisticated

games are meant to be enjoyed. they're entertainment. if you find enjoyment in playing with god mode turned on, then you're fine. the game is fulfilling it's purpose.
I'm 25 and I rarely find a game that captures my attention anymore.
I've just played it all. Few games have anything new to offer me.
I'm content with one or two games per year that I spend more than 40+ hours on each.

this, casually playing an hour of vidya daily is way better than spending 10+ hours a day logged in in wow.
fucking 2008 to 2009 were such a waste for me

what a fucking post.
5 stars

You're burnt out, and probably a little jaded. This happens at least once a year to me, usually around February when no new games are coming out and /v/ in general has nothing of interest to discuss. Just go find another hobby, or reintroduce yourself to one that you know you enjoy.
What I usually do is buy a few books, start hiking again, and limit vidya to just once a week for maybe 2 hours, tops. Within a month, the enjoyment is back. Good luck

Maybe you should start new hobbies.
When i was 23 i had the exact same feeling, i felt like videogames couldn't fill the gaps in my freetime anymore, so i went back to drawing and painting, started writing rpg scenarios again and started literature. Now i only play vidya when i feel like it between other hobbies and i enjoy every minute of it.
Just start another hobby and vidya will feel fresh again. Plus it will give you more boards to shitpost on on 4chan, nothing on /v/ feels like stirnerposting on /lit/

There's a reason for that.

Been through those phases several times (26 here).
I think in my case it was a combination of guilt that I should be studying, guilt that I should finish my backlog first instead of simply playing what I feel like at the moment. And maybe being depressed.
Lately I've been playing whatever I feel like and I'm having fun again. Played a ton of RO2 and Morrowind and I just hacked my 3DS a week ago which made me play it quite a lot again after not touching it for a year.
>27
>still playing games for children and the learning impaired
No wonder you're bored.
>>343284880
i'm 30 and in the same boat, but i think it's just because the games we enjoyed are not the games that are being made anymore. it's just the reality of it.

Imagine that this video predicted where Nintendo will be. Oh the irony

>I just bought a bunch of games on steam sale
Being in this situation myself, I kind honestly say that this kind of thing doesn't help. If you're burned out on video games, or in the process of burning out, you over face yourself by doing it.
It might be a sale but you don't save money by buying games you don't end up playing.
Just choose one game and settle into it and you'll probably do better.

it's not hard if you actually try
Solution: Stop buying shitty games just because you dont know what else to play, son.
Pdt. Im on my 30´s and I dont think im going to left playing videogames on the future.
I have the same issue OP. For me its that im usually so exhausted from work that video games just feel tiring to me. I desperately want to be 16 again and have no responsibilities or worries and be able to just enjoy myself.
