The Dwarves that are popularized today in typical modern fantasy, yes actually.
Before that they were even more diminutive spirits (like seriously really small) that supposedly aided in the smithing of weapons. Hence why the modern dwarf is often associated with an affinity for the skill.

It's actually one of the most boring uninspired games I've ever played. I got into closed beta, and halfway into my first game I realized I was having no fun whatsoever. I've played shitty games before, and usually I can find the fun in them at least through a single match/mission/whatever. But I couldn't with Paladins. The game just feels like shit, looks like shit, and everything about it is so bland.
