I want to have inhumanely fast reaction speed for vidya, what do you do to increase your reaction speed?
>>
>>343272591
Practice with games that need fast reaction times
Like arena shooters
Or stuff like Blacklight
>>
>>343272591
Use hacks like every other top tier player
>>
you can only increase your reaction speed a little bit, so if you're slow or getting slower as you age then you're fucked.
>>
>>343272591
>how do I get good at split second decision making skills
>how do I get faster reaction time
You fucking don't
It's literally genetic.
You can get good, but you can't get that good.
Practice snapping to heads. Go into death match. Get used to sens e.t.c. But I cant tell you where youll peek.

You want some real advice? Get better at anticipating instead of worrying about how fast you can blindly reaction to things. Street Fighter pros don't break throws on reaction, and CS:GO pros know maps and timing so well they could shoot you the exact second you round a corner without even needing to react to your presence. There's more to it than reacting, man. Figure it out.

Arena shooters are good. Try Quake Live or UT2K4. Alternatively look for aimtraining on CS GO or CS Source. Those are good ways to get your twitch skills up.

I agree that everyone has an inherent skill ceiling but most people never reach it due to bad mouse settings, small mouse pads, and lack of training/practice.

That's a common misconception. Yes age factors in but that's only when you reach your 40s and late 30s but if you practice right that shit never leaves your muscle memory, even well into your 60s. Veteran quake players still kick youngins without breaking a sweat.

Play a game that lets you adjust the speed.
Keep upping the speed until you just react instead of aim and can be precise enough to blindly headshot across the map based off of sound and instincts.

Then play a normal game and have everything feel like it's in slow motion.

Feels amazing but you have to keep practicing.

Make sure your hardware is on point - no vsync, high polling rates, highest FPS, highest refresh rate you can, proper timers and latency setups, etc. Those can make a much bigger impact than training your reactions.

Daily reminder if you're over the age of 26-ish just give up at trying to improve your reflexes, its all downhill.

I've always had fast reflexes, but in the last year I've noticed I'm not beating a lot of people to the first shot in FPSes. It's getting annoying, though, it could be newer games just have more dogshit netcode nowadays, and reward crappier pings, since I always have ~40ms ping to servers due to my USA location between west coast, Texas, and Chicago servers.

This is the wrong way to judge mouse sens but you shouldn't feel bad because everyone does it. You need to look at it as function of your available mouse movement space and how much you need to swipe to move either 90 degrees or 180 degrees. Ideally you want to use as much available mouse space as you can and have a swipe from wherever you decide (Middle, end to end) to equal that 90 or 180 degrees. So say you swipe across from one end to another end of your mousepad, and it's 180 degrees. Now you can swipe from the middle and have roughly 90 degrees. Or 90 from end to end and 45 from middle to end.

Also turn off every aspect of aim assist, acceleration, etc. as you possibly can unless you're playing an arena shooter.

What I do is that I try to find a natural sensitivity.

Go in the game you're calibrating sense for, find a doorway, stand about 1m away from it, aim at one side of the doorframe, close your eyes and switch aim to the other side without thinking too much about what mouse sense you're currently on, just move the mouse the amount you feel is natural.

Do that until you get a rough fit, then you should have something relatively close to your natural sensitivity. If you want to fine tune it, aim at one side of the doorframe, shoot it, then shoot the other side, and repeat as fast as you can while maintaining accuracy, and you'll feel if it's slightly too slow or too fast. This fine tuning takes a while as you want a few minutes to really get a feel for each attempt.

Rather than trying to react fast, predict where the enemy is, know the maps and the rough time it takes for enemies to get to certain parts of the map. In old arena shooters you had to predict arcs and how fast your shots travel to meet the target in that arc, thats not really an issue anymore, you just need to know the maps.

Regardless of how fast you can react, you want to reduce the situations you have to make a raw reaction to in almost any competitive game. Learn to fuzzy guard mixups in fighters and use sound/timing etc in FPS.
>>
>only have average reaction time

I am starting to think reaction time is a meme.
>>
>>343293021
Not a meme, but not the only thing needed to win. You can beat a player that has a better aim than you if you play more intelligently.
>>
>>343292234
>Learn to fuzzy guard mixups.
That only applies to 3d fighters. Fuzzy guard has the exact opposite connotation in 2d fighters where instead of blocking a high/low at the same time. You force them into a situation where their block animation doesn't change and you hit them with a high/low. Not so strong in SF type games but it's fucking ridiculous in shit like GG
>>
>>343293021
Its about knowing maps and predicting the players actions, not necessarily reactions, just being smart really. If you can successfully flank and outmaneauver someone that is miles better than having a faster reaction than them, having a fast reaction will certainly make you much better though.
>see player running up some stairs and you cant get a very clear shot
>know that he will enter a certain area within a certain amount of time and you can go and ambush him as he goes into that area
vs
>shoot him in the back as soon as you see him climbing the stairs, but its not a clear shot so it doesnt outright kill him
>he can still get away and/or can turn around and shoot back at you
Just know the maps.

yeah you are probably right, still kind of strange since I can also do really well in shooters I never really played but I guess certain skills/concepts translate from one shooter to the next. also I guess having slightly above average reaction time already means there are few people with better reactions assuming the distribution is some sort of bell curve.

You can't increase your reflexes that much. It will stay roughly the same no matter what you do.
However, if you know the game you're playing well enough, you can become able to make quick reads that they will look like lightning reflexes to other people watching you play.
If you're talking about shooters, having a decent mouse with a good setup (no mouse acceleration, ajusted sensitivity etc) can definitely help you.
Either way, reflexes as a whole are not as important as people picture them to be, so don't expect it to make you an excellent player overnight. That's why people who are good at reflexe-based phone games don't become good players automatically elsewhere.
You'll be much better off focusing on fundamental things aspects about the game you're playing, honing your skills to the point where reflexes aren't going to be that decisive to your gameplay.

ok i just got this after a little bit of trying and using the same method

all aboot finding that sweet spot which is a little after the tick (3-5th) tick the 6th tick being a little before it
this result came up on the 6th tick, which is easier to get because you know FOR SURE there's gonna be a STOP on that one

>You can't increase your reflexes that much.
Given that most social "science" research is garbage what are you basing this on?

I'm a pretty fast sniper in BF

you just gotta feel it. Expect the enemy. A lot of it is just pure luck. Always be ready to pull. Aim before you scope. Predict movements

Drugs are sorta useful since they can teach you how to do the whole react faster thing. Once you experience the state of mind like that enough times you can start to force your mind into it regularly even when sober.
For some people even caffeine can help.

at 40 yrs old, the latency is still the determining factor in whether I get the first shot on someone, assuming their skill level is near mine

if you're playing call of duty tier crap like the OP's picture you might as well give up on 'skill' because very commonly those players are properly and intelligently abusing whatever moderate autoaim is baked into the netcode

another reason I detect "streaks of failure" is because it's possible to mentally set yourself up for harder shots, imagining that you're the better player, that you "should win" when in reality you're just walking purposefully into a situation where the other player has a better and easier shot

my reaction time on that game is 300-350, so its saying I'm in my twenties? not too bad for an old coot

as a guy that could 1v2 aimbot retards at cs 1.6 it comes from practice.
my reaction skills were over the top but that comes with the price of wasting your entire day playing the same game for years.

Play a lot of 90's FPS games and arena shooters.
Hell, even DOOM '16 is fast enough to kick your ass if you don't have good enough reaction speed.
Once you git gud at those games, you'll be miles better at whatever newer games you're trying to play.

there's no auto aim on the PC versions

what are some fun multiplayer FPS games on PC? I stopped playing CSGO months ago but I'm feeling that itch again. Don't really want to play CS again because of the shit playerbase

I played the Overwatch beta but got bored after a few matches

Honestly, it's all a matter of knowledge rather than twitch reactions.

In high level play for any shooter, players usually will study the map. Sometimes the developer will make it easier by offering stats online via map viewer and such. With this knowledge the player can know where someone will most likely appear and thus pre-planing their attack.

Example: You get a power up on the map at 0:03. The next time it spawns is 4:00 minute into the match which means the power up will appear again @ 4:03. Thus using this knowledge to gain the upper hand on your opponent.

It's things like this and viewer death count areas that allow players to have these twitch reactions, because they already know were you will be.

Another example would be godlike spawn camping strats that you see in 1v1 high level matches.
