It's certainly nicer than Los Santos in V. It's miserable walking around in V but I guess that's just how Los Angeles is. The street layout was also too simple so you could get from one end to the other really quick and easy. Makes it feel less big and sprawling. Los Santos in SA was able to work around that a bit by forcing you to turn at certain spots so it didn't feel as simplistic

The term "comfy" has lost all meaning.
The best GTA game and easily shits all over GTA V.
GTA IV has something more than just comfy. It has character. You can feel like the developers actually were making this game out of passion, pushing the envelope every way they could.
This is in total contrast to the GTA V experience, which feels shallow and plastic. The game heavily pushes you into their online microtransaction environment and makes single player seem pale in comparison.
What's really not fair to me is I have always loved GTA IV ever since I picked it up on release back in April 2008 for Xbox 360, and again months later for PC. I never had any trouble running it from day one on my Q6600 3.6Ghz and 9800 GTX. Things have only gotten better over time as I am able to play at 4k easily where the world really can be appreciated better. There are so many little details in the game, and the world just feels so much more alive than in GTA V. Yet having this opinion today will get me trash talked for being "contrarian" despite sinking hundreds of hours into GTA IV from 2008-2013, and loving every minute of it. Ever since GTA V came out, you have to be some kind of hipster idiot to love and appreciate GTA IV, and that's total bullshit. No one will speak highly of GTA V in years to come, as there is nothing to love about it.

GTA V mission are as good because they generally have no map for the mission.
My favorite in V is actually the multiplayer simeon mission of breaking into a mansion and stealing the cars.

Okay, let me blog a little bit. I was lucky to experience all GTA games while I was growing up as they were being released. I remember talking to my classmate everyday on our way from school fantasizing about how awesome would it be to play GTA in 3D. It was pretty alien thought, because with our early Pentiums we couldn't imagine machine powerful enough or a developer who could make such thing possible.
Years later GTA3 came and it was everything we dreamed about. We've spent hours and hours just driving around and absorbing the comfy atmosphere.
Then VC improved and polished everything and packed in cool setting.
Then San Andreas ruined everything with packing in boring Sims-like/RPG-lite mechanics and boring turf wars mechanic. It was too big and too ambitious but ended up bland at every part that actually mattered. For most of people here it was their GTA and it pains me that their childhood nostalgia is clouding their judgement. San Andreas fucking sucked. There I said it.
Then GTA IV came. It was panned because it ran like shit, was too "realistic" and wasn't as "fun" as GTA used to be. I hated the "cousin let's go bowling" mechanic so much that I stopped playing. Some time later I revisited it and finally notced that underneath all it is incredibly detailed world, full of technical wonders and insane attention to detail. It was comfy as fuck. It reminded me GTA III for obvious reasons and I spent hours and hours just driving around and watching the city life. It's basically GTA III with more detail. When will they fix the movement in these games? Running around is so clunky, if I was a human and I wanted to turn around it would not take as long as in these games. Those silly "parkour" modes in GTAO really showcase how clumsy it is, you might end up walking off a container just because the character wouldn't turn in place
