You're both retarded. Path of Exile only ever had this "true D2 sequel" meme floating around because the mechanics had a level of complexity that D3 does not have. The only feature that even remotely overlaps between PoE and Diablo is the clicking on things until they die feature, which is genre-wide. PoE has clearly been inspired by Diablo but it is very obviously a game unto itself and even if they charged retail price for it like they did for D3 it would still be objectively superior (at least in the condition it is now, when D3 came out PoE was nowhere near as good as it is currently)

Having played D3, PoE, and Grim Dawn, I'd say that both PoE and Grim Dawn are worthy successors to D2. I was in the beta for each, and each does different things well. Ultimately, I prefer Grim Dawn for moddability and single player offline mode, but PoE's skill and "class" systems are fucking incredible.
D3 as it currently exists is fun for a little while, but is casualized as fuck and the classes are lackluster. I'd even take Torchlight over it. D3 is worth doing a single playthrough, if you're invested in the Diablo universe.

Currently there are basically zero people on battlenet, plenty of bots, and anyone who played this season has end game gear already. You could make a new account and someone might give you a full character for free/cheap because they're not planning to play any more (since it's dead now, as mentioned previously). After a ladder reset, no one has gear, there are no bots, and there are other people playing. So you can co-op, items have value, etc.

The skills lack any kind of punch, and also since any character can theoretically use them, they become bland and generic instead of the awesome D2 skills which are very fun to use.
It's a damn shame, really, I love everything else PoE does, and it could be the perfect game if only the skills were better.

Blizzard actually removed my games (Diablo 2/LoD, SC/BW) from BNet due to inactivity at the start of this year. And they did that before sending me an email or anything. Shit's been on there for over 10 years with no problems and now it's gone. Needless to say, I lost my CDs long ago.
I hope modern day Blizzards crashes and burns more than any other company.
