Haven't played new Doom, but I just finished Wolfenstein and can say that I enjoyed it a lot. You won't regret choosing it if you end up doing so.

I was interested in playing TNO after playing Doom but lost most interest after watching some videos. No projectile based enemy attacks, linear maps, a lot of cutscenes. Missing all the things I liked in Doom.

Wolfenstein TNO is the best COD like modern styled on rails cover based shooter I have ever played or seen. Doom is Doom but with a lot of modern elements, staying true to the core gameplay with added verticality. In my opinion Doom is fuck tons better because I will always prefer fast projectiles over hitscan and cover. If you're the kind of person that likes COD campeigns then you'll love the fuck out of Wolfenstein because its that done right but Doom is better because the gameplay is better. Admittedly I cried in Wolfenstein, the story is fantastic.

I've been playing Doom since I was a tike in the 90s. New Wolf is next on my list after just finishing New DOOM. It's not the original games, but it shouldn't be the originals either. The .wad community is still very alive and if Bethesda/id remove the snapmap limitations for PC (or just give us the whole shebang) the new DOOM will have a huge explosion of great maps.
In the inevitable sequel they need to ramp up the difficulty (like Doom II did after I). Demon population and density are lacking in some earlier levels but that's my only gripe (the second half of levels are mostly on point). Full disclosure I finished on UV because I thought Nightmare was locked from the beginning thanks to its red outline in the difficulty select, so the demon pop. complaint might be nixed on my NM playthrough.
The music, art, and weapon feel are all top tier. I really enjoyed DOOM overall. I was hoping Wolf would be a similar return to form but the posts in this thread are not encouraging, which really sucks because playing Wolf3D with my dad are some of my fondest memories.

I have a 670 and I have to nuke the settings, set it to 1920x1080 and lower resolution to 75%. Get a constant 40+ fps that way, dips only down to mid 30s
