These are objectively bad games.

If you think i am wrong, tell me in this thread, i am genuinely interested in knowing why.

We could start with why you think they're objectively bad.

by todays standards maybe, but back when they came out they were very good games
also its mostly because of dated gameplay mechanics and graphics that they arent too enjoyable any more

If you make an accusation of something being bad without backing it up with evidence, you aren't going to be taken seriously. I personally dislike the game, but I recognize that's because it simply doesn't click with my preferences.

Don't know about Morrowind but

Deus Ex
>Some of the best level design ever seen in gaming. There's always a multiple ways of dealing with each situation, and all are balanced well. (except the Dragon tooth, but nothing is perfect)
>Game doesn't try to force an agenda down the players throat, it presents multiple sides to each argument and lets the player decide what is best
>It presents many of these issues through gameplay, i.e. excessive police force and how the characters react to how you handle MSF.
>Great build variety thanks to augments, you can play as a super sneaking agent, a cyborg ninja that can jump over buildings, or as fucking doomguy if you really want.
>Well thought out universe with some pretty fantastic dialogue, spotty voice acting not withstanding.
>Spotty voice acting is fucking hilarious.

Planescape is mostly the same stuff, varied builds and ways to tackle problems, great dialogue, interesting universe, and it also comes with some great party members. I'd say the gameplay is a lot more obtuse than Deus Ex, but that probably has more to do with AI constraints.

Now why don't you try backing up your own baseless assertion.
>>
>>343238003
I can see why someone wouldn't like them. They are wrong and can't see the forest for the trees but I get it. Deuce Sex has terrible combat. Just fucking awful. It only barely gets ok when you level skills enough.

Morrowind is a goddamned mess of archaic design and no mod has fixed it all yet. Again, combat is ass until you level a bit. Even then it's only passable.

Planescape is slow and not exactly confusing but pretty dense for...half the game or so. The combat is fine. For an isoRPG.

But all 3 build amazing worlds easily lost in, give you freedom to do things how you want, have stories that aren't complete fanfic generic shit, and are so good once you adapt that you'll go back over a decade later.
>>
>>343238003
I'm honestly curious regarding the thought process that led to you making this thread. My best guess:

1) time to piss off /v/, since you feel like being contrarian at the moment

2) pick what you think are /v/'s most beloved games and spice it with the "objectively bad" meme

Is that it? In that case, you might want to add VTMB in there to trigger even more of /v/.
>>
>>343239328
VTMB is pretty mediocre though other than story
>>
>>343239248
Op likes it in the butt.
>>
>>343238003
Deus Ex is overrated but it's great
Morrowind is a bad game because it's got endless gameplay and technical issues and it's good parts do better as a book.
Planescape is just like Morrowind but 1000x worse, the game is literally a fucking choose your own adventure visual novel you don't need to face one battle to beat only walk and talk which basically makes it the literal definition of a walking simulator. It's what """PC""" fags who are too poor to ever own a console do tell themselves their 2000 dollar rigs are worth it even though any laptop or toaster can run the games.

Are there people who actually genuinely like chrono trigger? I tried it and even for a playstation 1 game it looks awful. Retro pixel art is such a stupid meme, it was confusing too. /v/ loves to pretend to like ancient ps1 and n64 shit though just because it's so old. I guess since it's by the same guy who did dragonball Z though it's no surprise there'd be tons of dragonball fans who'd put it on a pedestal.

Guys, I will start Deus Ex now, any mods that are mandatory?
It's all so dark, it really is this way?

The music in it was some of the best out there when it was released. The soundtrack for the levels music is amazing, especially the Hollywood theme.

Give Me Deus Ex (GMDX)

Adds a ton of new features and fixes some of the oldest complaints like guards not noticing dead bodies.
>>
>>343239517
>VTMB is pretty mediocre though other than story
"no"

The only aspect of the game that's lacking is the combat. But that is the most salvageable aspect as well. Seems like every /v/ GOAT game is lacking in combat anyway. Every other aspect is nailed with supernatural precision and creativity.

>>343239963
I couldn't get into it at first, but when the story picks up, it becomes absolutely amazing. It's not my favorite SNES RPG, but there are many things to appreciate. Story, branching paths and endings, music, it's all really good. If you're not into retro gaming though, it won't make that much of a difference.

First, kind of jelly, DX is still a ton of fun and I wish I could play it again for the first time. Read and follow this anon to start:

DX is an old unreal engine game, so it's been possible for people to make some decent basic enhancements to it so it runs better on modern systems. Getting a modern build of the exe and a basic texture pack is really all you need, it's a great game pure vanilla.

It's worth multiple playthroughs though, I found new things even on my fifth (obviously don't use a guide or anything, it's not necessary and retarded). On later ones, you might try one of the basic "vanilla+" mods, the standard one used to be "Shifter" but IIRC the devs kind of went off the deepend and started doing their own crazy stuff too much, someone else may be able to recommend what the basic one is now. You want one that does fixes and maybe a few weapon/aug changes without fucking it all up. That should be good for your next few playthroughs, after that you can try stuff yourself.

Do not under any circumstances use the "Deus Ex Revision" mod. It's the Half Life Cinematic Mod of DX and fucking awful, even if it doesn't have an fully modeled vagina leak system.

Spend a bit of time in the first area of Liberty Island fucking around, it's a good sandbox to try a lot of different strategies in a compact setting. There's a number of secrets and approaches, while your goal is always super clear.

Good luck and have fun anon.
>>
>>343240521
I'm pretty sure i know who those two are, but i've never found the video where they actually wear that shit together.

Do you have a code or a hint?
>>
>>343239328
They ARE objetively bad.

They all have terrible gameplay, Deus Ex gunplay, story and voice acting is literally a fucking joke, Planescape is a walking simulator and Morrowind is just a bad game with nothing going for it.

You can't call these games good with a straight face, they are too flawed.

Even millenials are being blown away by Deus Ex's gameplay. I can kind of excuse the rest if you were 12yo so your bait would be passable, but not this.

>>343240686

Worst relative to arcanum? I guess it's personal taste, but you just might not like third-person RPGs as much as isometric ones. Also, bad RELATIVE to arcanum =/= mediocre RPG. Even if I don't agree with anything you said.
>>
OP here. VTMB is good, the game at least has functional gameplay and even with the bugs on the vanilla game it still is superior to the games i talked about. System Shock 2 is cool too.

That's correct.

It's also an RPG with some of the best voice acting, facial expressions, immersive storylines, memorable characters and quests, varying dialogue options and roleplaying, different starting clans for even more roleplaying and the most foreboding atmosphere in any game ever (contender with Deus Ex).

Can't speak for anything but morrowind. I'm sure it's a god tier game but only if you grew up with it. I started with oblivion and while I'd like a deeper world and something more rpg-ness to it and richer characters and quests and shit
but everytime I give it another try I simply cannot get past the absolutely ass mechanics
Namely melee combat

>morrowind combat

>oblivion and skyrim combat
>takes literally nothing into account, consists solely of mashing M1 brainlessly
>>
>>343241946
>Stats
There's only one worthless stat in the whole game. Even swimming gets you a ton of great shit early game and means you don't have to clutter you inventory with extra shit.

>Gunplay
see >>343241794
Name me another (non-EYE) game that lets me jump 30 feet in the air, gun everyone down with various firearms and casually deflect missiles with my brain flares.

>Terrible AI
This is factually wrong. AI in Deus Ex have barks, various stages of alert, can determine whether it's better to engage the player, run for the alarm, or flee the area. Not saying they're super amazing or anything, their vision is pretty limited and they'll occasionally get stuck on odd geometry, but to say that they're outright bad is retarded.

>animation
All animation from that era was fucking shit especially shooters, it would be another year before devs really sunk their teeth into 6th gen hardware and came up with really good animation.

There's your (you). Hope you like it.

Anyone who can't recognize the greatness of PC gaming in the late 90's - early 2000's should probably just leave /v/
>>
>>343243713
There are better PC games than these overrated abominations.
>>
Planescape is a bad game with excellent story

I don't see the appeal in Morrowind either, it's the least bland Open World game Bethesda made, I'll give it that, but it's still a bland open world game.

Deus Ex is legitimately great despite its flaws.

I still prefer them over the heaps of AAA streamlined sequels we get now. At least they're different experiences.
>>
Not OP but I tried playing the newer Deus Ex and couldn't do it. It felt slow and too story driven where it hurt the game play. I didn't play it super long however.

With that said some of the best games ever made are extremely hard to recommend or get into, especially for younger generations of players.
