Fuck this shit. What's a good mouse that's not too expensive ?

It goes on sale for 40-50$ every other week. I got mine for 80$ + 40$ free steam credit.

only problem with this mouse is that it's alittle bit too small, wish it was the size of the deathadder then it would be perfect to my specific needs.

I think they stopped making that anon, but I have one as well and can confirm it's worth the $40.

It's plastic but comes with weights that can help you trick yourself into thinking its heavier.

Don't fall for the hurr wireless meme though, it's still a fantastic mouse, and *the* comfiest mouse I've ever touched.

ive been pretty satisfied with this, coming from a g400 and an mx518 before that. plug and play, no software unless you want to customize it, right amount of buttons, and the ergo shape is great. only downside is the middle click can be suspect.
>>
>>343242086
is the scroll wheel better than the g502 ? meaning that it doesn't feel wabbly or has scrolling issues ?
>>
>>343236482
Do you play FPS games? If no, you don't need a gaming mouse. If you DO don't buy anything other than Zowie or Mionix.

literally the only good mouse in the thread

/v/ always has shit taste in everything though not sure why im surprised
>>
G400s still works for me after 3 years. Damn superb mouse.
>>
>>343236482
Highly depends how you like your mice and what grip you use and if you want extra programmable buttons

If you use claw grip, and like your mice not very tall, Razer has some for a reasonable price
If you use fingertip grip, literally any small mouse is good
If you use palm grip, anything not too small or low is good

In all honesty tho, look for some well known manufacturers mice, as all mice have their pros and cons
>>
Talking about expensive mouses. Is the wireless Razer Mamba worth the 149.99 Price tag for what its advertised or is it just a rip off gimmick choice? Never knew a mouse could cost so fucking much.

Unironically, death adder chroma. Great sensor and clicks and the shape is nice. Death adders also don't tend to suffer the razer build quality issue. A ime 3.0 is solid too, but I didn't like the shape, just a little too wide. I've also been meaning to test a roc cat kpm, but I've just been enjoying my eeathadder so much.

I want to get the Razer Deathadder because I've heard it's the best. Problem is, I already have a Logitech keyboard, so I'd have to install another entire suite of software just for the goddamn mouse. Not only that, but I've heard you actually have to create a login for the software and validate an email address.
>>
>>343249456
Ok.

-Like the scroll wheel. way lighter than G502, better than the previous G700 and the revolution.
-Light mouse with no weight adjustment. I recommend taking off the the buttons on the pinky. it's annoying as fuck when you bump into those buttons
-G502 has the same sensor. way heavier though.
-More stable reception than G700, I didn't really buy into the whole click advert. Too soon to tell if the omron switches won't burn out as a result of the hinged mouse clicks.

I'd like more buttons, but I feel like it'd be difficult to use with the way I move the mouse (thumb, ring finger, pinky) without accidentally hitting the buttons. On the other hand, if the buttons are too stiff, they'll be too difficult to use.

>>
>>343236482
As much as I like Logitech, this mouse is trash. Mine is relatively new. First impressions was that it was a clear downgrade from G700, which I loved. Too light, too small, and as it later turned out, the buttons are shit. Started sticking out of nowhere.
Rather than asking for a replacement, I bought a G900. Expensive as all hell, but so far it seemed like a good move.

Go for a G700 if it's not too expensive for you, but be warned that it's pretty big and far heavier than most mice these days, both of which I personally came to appreciate. G900 is pretty well rounded by comparison.

I take it back, it's not too small. It just fucked with my hand and wrist until I got used to it, I guess. A non-issue in the end.

On the other hand, I did understate just how light it is. I put in all of the weights right away and it still felt like cheap plastic. Also, the panel on the bottom has this weird triangle texture that picks up dirt like a motherfucker, which can cause friction problems. Just awful.

the g303 is 24 bucks at best buy right now, with the best optical sensor available currently (3366, same as g502) i have 19.5cm hands and i can palm, fingertip, and claw grip it. the shape's risky though, so try it in store. also sometimes it can have sensor rattle which is just a minor annoyance but mine didn't have it and it's uncommon with the latest batch.

My G400 had a wonky cable too, it would just stop responding if the cable got twisted a certain way. Fixed it by opening it up and pulling some slack into the body of the mouse, kept the weak bit of cable clamped down so it wouldn't move and the issue went away.
>>
>>343248393

This.

This mouse is fantastic. Bought it for home and work use and I can usually get most of a work week out of a single charge. It's really comfortable for long use sessions and I don't see any noticeable input lag when playing games when I have it paired with the USB dongle. Being able to hot-switch between 3 paired computers is a really nice feature, too.

My one gripe with it though is that you can't use the back/forward buttons as 'hold' buttons (meaning holding it still registers a click/release) so you're not able to bind those as push-to-talk buttons.

Logitech knows of this but hasn't released or planned to release a patch or fix for it.

Other than that though, it's a fucking stellar mouse. I love it.
>>
>>343247492

Go for it anon. I wasn't a big fan of the shape but if you can deal with it, the sensor is well worth that alone.
>>
>>343248634

It's expensive, also like >>343256429 mentioned, my hand had to get used to it so the first couple days felt awkward.

Why would you want a wireless?

If you have big hands I'd recommend the mouse in OPs pic or a Deathadder.
>>
>>343261891

Do you like lighter or heavier mice? Because the 303 is pretty damn light, while the 602 has the weight of 1-2 AA batteries along with the rest of the mouse.
>>
>>343261891
Do you claw or fingertip? Get the 303. Otherwise, don't get it.

Sensor is buttery smooth and wonderfully accurate. But I do fingertip grip. It's my favorite mouse since the Razer Diamondback. But if you like the bigger mice, or one-handed mice as opposed to ambidextrous ones, then don't get it.

This mouse is full of QA issues and poor design choices. I tried explaining all of it's faults on the forums and people defended this piece of plastic with a zeal I had never seen before. It was just a shock moment that someone could obsess so strongly over their purchase that they'd outright deny reality.

Really the only annoying problem that still bugs me to this day is the utterly shit scroll wheel. Logitech fucked up big time by putting in the worst scroll wheel sensor I've ever had the displeasure of using. Often times the sensor becomes off track from the scroll clicks so you get these phantom scrolls that click and feel like you made a proper rotation, and you did, but the shit sensor never detects it. I even found a way to reproduce how the sensor is not absolute but gets triggered by certain velocity thresholds by opening a web browser and scrolling the wheel extremely slowly. We're talking one notch click every 5 seconds. On every old mouse I have, they always detect the scroll no matter how slowly I do it. With this piece of shit though, I can do full revolutions of the wheel and never detect a single notch click. It's awful.

I just feel so fucking guilty. My girlfriend got me this and a G510 from Best Buy and I just couldn't turn them down or tell her how not good they are. Been using them for awhile and will stick with them but man do I feel bad for her.
>>
>>343269793
Holy shit right on. I feel so bad for falling for the hype that this mouse gets so much. My old $20 microsoft mouse had a way better scroll wheel than this shit.

>>

Not true at all. I've found having 6-12 buttons in immediate access of my thumb is awesome for shooters that have a ton of functions (most of which nowadays do).
The fuckload of inputs for ARMA, or weapon switching and ability usage in the new DOOM.
I can distribute a lot of actions to my right thumb, leaving just a few for my left hand so that I never once need to take my fingertips away from WASD at a critical moment nor reach a finger far off to the side.

It's just too bad that
>>343250885
Pretty much every "MMO mouse" I've ever seen has a shit sensor with abysmal tracking when moving diagonally, so it will be good for slow games where you don't need to aim like the MMOs they're advertised for. Pretty much the only one with a shitload of side buttons and a perfect sensor is >>343242086
but it's too bad that it's wireless only. Not just because of the wireless, but because the battery makes it weigh a fucking ton.

Be prepared to send it back in a year.
I bought a Lua 2 years ago, it developed a double click when single clicking issue in a little less than a year. Sent it back, they gave me a new one. Another year later, it developed the same issue as the first. Only now I'm stuck with it now that the warranty's over. So I kept using it and now it sometimes doesn't detect clicks at all. Fuck these things.

I made the mistake of buying the G100s. A good mouse, only problem during regular use was that the buttons squek. Oh well, at least I have good headphones.

Oh wait. After 8 months of use the left button stops responding. You can hear the click of the micro switch but no signal goes to the PC. What the hell? You need to press extra hard to get a reaction. Warranty -> Replacement.

Same squeaking. No problem. 8 months later: Left button stops working again. Contact store. Sales of the G100s discontinued. No reviews. 80% return or exchange rate. Piece of shit.

I bought it off of eBay, refurbished. Cost me like half the cost and it works perfectly, you couldn't tell it's not brand new. I highly suggest you do this because there's literally no downside. My last mouse was refurbished too and it lasted 4 years before I just got sick of it.

The scroll wheel on this went to shit after using it for about 2 years. First it would double-triple click, then the click stopped working completely, then the scrolling got all fucked up (kept going up a bit every time I wanted to scroll down and vice versa). It was an alright mouse but I wasn't in love with it or anything. It's also pretty big.

Speaking of trackball mice, are there any games that are more difficult to play with them? It seems like it'd be really difficult to play an FPS with one.
>>
>>343247492
Picked this up a couple of weeks ago, honestly surprised how good it is for only 25$. I couldn't find anything better than that, and according the the CSGO pro chart, a couple of pros use the mouse, so if it's good enough for them then it's sure as shit good enough for me.

A lot of people bitch about the shape. I have very large hands and use a claw grip. It's perfectly fine for me.
>>
>>343244943

I had the same problem, just wrote a quick letter to logitech's support and they sent me a g400s as a replacement. It has extra reinforcement near the end of the wire so I think this is why I've been using mine for a few years without any worries.

The shape is godly, shame they ditched it.
>>
>>343278504
>seems like it'd be really difficult to play an FPS with one
Quite the opposite. Pro players can spin the ball to do a near-instantaneous 180. Aiming is slightly different than with a traditional mouse. You "throw" the cursor to the general position, then home in. Once you get used to it, they're far more precise.

I just bought this for like £10 and it's at least as good as the Logitech G9 I was using before it.

That's a really bold claim you better back up with facts. Logic would tell me that a low sensitivity pro with a normal mouse would be the more precise one with a 1:1 sensor due to the extremely larger area where the "mouse" can move.

I seriously can't imagine the best trackball player beat the best optical mouse player in quake. I can't comprehend lightning fast back to back flick shots to almost pixel precise positions happening on a trackball, ever.

I couldn't, 2 days in and I went back to my 2011 Xai. It's fucking annoying to get used to, not to mention it slides across my mousepad when I'm not using it. Probably because of its weight because my Xai doesn't do it.

Been using this one for a few years now.
It's a little "gamer kitsch-y", but it's durable, has no built in acceleration, a decent cord, more than enough buttons, and is pretty ergonomic. Cheap too, as far as good mice go.

>That's a really bold claim you better back up with facts.
They're rare enough that there aren't conclusive studies or anything, and the matter is a point of contention. I'd say take my word for it, but an Orbit is like $20. They were more common in FPS circles prior to the introduction of the optical mouse. And Quake had native support for simultaneous joystick and trackball play, which is a sort of Frankenstein setup, but it wouldn't have came about if it wasn't effective. Whether optical mice are strictly better or just edge out in compromise, eh, who knows. Best to try it for yourself.
>>
>>343236482
That's weird, that can't be the G502, the left mouse button should be more inward, not outwardly round.

Well yeah, obviously there won't be any studies or anything. What I was trying to get out of you was a pro trackball player whose aim is as swift and precise as, say, the people in the video I linked.
Granted it isn't the most aim intensive video I posted, it's more of a mental breakdown of a classic quake match, but for me to even consider something as ridiculous as what you're suggesting there ought to be some player out there that can match the video posted.

The reason why I am being so adamant about the thing is, I used to be a trackball guy for a long time, and having been a fairly competent user I just can't imagine someone being as good as a player with an optical. Especially if your sensitivity is within the 35-50 cm/360 range.

And yeah, I imagine quite a few games had trackball support back then, considering that they weren't that uncommon in that day. But I believe there's a reason they've phased out.
>>

Classic Razer, give everything a really edgey name to make all the hip and cool teens want one.
To be fair I'm in my twenties and I have a Deathadder and the Blackwidow Chroma, they're good bits of kit. Maybe I'm 14 at heart, who knows.
Deathadder is a top mouse though desu. Good value for money and the chroma software is pretty neat. And it's quite comfy for extended use, would recommend if you can get one for a reasonable price.
