Review copies have power consumption issue right now. This limits OC stability.

It could be just limited to review copies or the retail cards might be suffering from this too. We'll need to wait for more clarification on this issue.

Isn't it funny that AMD releases these miraculous benchmarks before release but as soon as the cards reach public hands they perform know where near what the benchmark got.

I will always buy Nvidiaâ„¢ because I only play games The Way It's Meant to be Playedâ„¢.
Nvidiaâ„¢ also pioneers innovative new technologies like PhysXâ„¢, Gameworksâ„¢ and the highest quality driver to ever grace Windows. When I boot up with a brand new Nvidiaâ„¢ Geforceâ„¢, I can experience the game just like it's meant to be played.
Nvidiaâ„¢ also delivers a far more silkysmooth experience. Nvidiaâ„¢ Geforceâ„¢ is also very power efficient. A graphic card is the most power hungry device in your house. Refrigerators, air conditioners, water heaters, dish washers, lights, etc all use significantly less power than a graphic card. Which is why Nvidiaâ„¢ puts gamers first by ensuring that their gaming experience is of the highest quality while looking out for gamers by giving them the most value in their electrical bill.

At this point in time, there's really no reasons to consider an AMD graphic card at all. I tried one one time, it caused so much heat that it exploded. It also consumed so much power that it gave out an EMP and destroyed the rest of my computer.
Nvidiaâ„¢ also pioneered how useless GPGPU is with CUDAâ„¢. Years ago, everyone thought GPGPU, CUDAâ„¢, and OpenCL were the future. Now, Nvidiaâ„¢ has removed those useless features from their GPUs and increased efficiency. Now you can save thousands a year in electricity thanks to Nvidiaâ„¢ ensuring that useless features like GPGPU are "optimized" for gamers.
It's quite clear that everyone here is an AMD shill trying to convince you to settle on something less than The Way It's Mean to be Playedâ„¢. Nvidiaâ„¢ is the only real way to play games. We have seen recently that they offer incredible libraries for software developers like Nvidiaâ„¢ Gameworksâ„¢.
Everyone is probably too poor to afford the Nvidiaâ„¢ Geforce Experienceâ„¢ and can not afford to play any games The Way It's Mean To be Playedâ„¢. Don't be a poor gamer with bad drivers and a huge power bill.

midhigh is always the best to buy.

It can always max out games, and when they get outdated enough you have used it for a couple years.

I will never understand buying top of the line, when the next year something better will come out for half the price.

Although I imagine only rich people buy shit like the Titan X.

also, a lot of the rx 480 benchmarks are of the stock reference 480 vs AIB overclocked 970s and overclocked 390s. we're gonna see factory overclocked 480s within the next month that add more than a 6pin connector so we could see a noteworthy performance bump that might put the 480 on top.

Zen CPUs are still supposedly arriving later this year, and they could do to Intel what AMD is doing to Nvidia here that is about as fast as their competitor when it comes to legacy stuff, but much faster when it comes to new stuff.

Plus the new socket AM4 motherboards should be cheap like the socket AM1 boards were since the chips are all SOCs requring little in the way of other components. 4 core Zen CPU + Motherboard for $150 might be possible.

It wasn't made to beat cards in the 300 dollar or more range, the fact that it can even compete with them though is admirable.

They'll be using an AMD supplied SOC, so they won't be 480/1070 equivalent, they'll be CPU limited, and they almost certainly will use a shared memory pool like the current consoles. Try to compare that set up to discrete graphics cards in a PC is always going to fall short regardless of the marketing numbers Microsoft is throwing around.

Well right now I'm running AMD A10-5800k and a Radeon HD 7700 with 8gb vram, haven't had trouble with games up until the last year and a half. Basically as soon as Witcher 3 came out, just really jew with my money. Every time I see one of these threads I go back to tweaking my future build. Also, I'm running one of those 24 60hz monitors. Not really in a rush to upgrade the monitor, but I do split screen with my 40" 1080@60hz tv which I do game on sometimes.

Actually you probably will. Depending on what motherboard you have you'll have some cheap upgrade options in the form of the Athlon X4 chips, but any of the new Zen chips will be using a new motherboard. The good news is that those boards should be cheap since Zen parts are basically systems-on-chip meaning that the board doesn't need to include a lot of expensive additional components.

Still if you run Linux there's now basically no reason to not buy a GCN card since the open drivers can be some of the highest performing drivers on any platform.

These are the ACTUAL prices you can buy them for and actually receive the card within that week.

Nvidia barely made any 1080's, they can't meet market demand and scalpers have bought most of the 1080 cards up to resell at much higher prices as a result. You can buy it at MSRP, but you'll have to wait several weeks, if not months, to actually get the card.
