Very similar I would say its more competitive since the stages are designed better,you contribute to your win more individually,you cannot switch weapons so coordination is key,movement is directly tied to the amount of control your team has so matches can slowball,players have the same health,death=loss of ult(unless you equip geat to offset),ults are not game changers and have counters for all guns instead of some and some more I can't recall.
Both are very similar and more fun but I'd have to give it to splatoon.

Splatoon does not have aim assist.
Splatoon managed to have close to PC precision on a console.
This alone makes Splatoon a more skill focused game. The specials in Splatoon are also far less handy than those in Overwatch, though the latter can make for more exciting from-behind victories. I enjoy Overwatch a lot but they really need to fix the console aiming.

i dont think this game would be appreciated very much on PC. the game's balance is heavily influenced by the gyro control scheme. gyro controls are a huge improvement over analog controls, and the game masks its weaknesses very well. hit boxes are huge, maps are small, and players are relatively easy to hit. this makes you think the gyro controls work really well, however - try playing modern shooters like counterstrike with gyro controls (if you have a steam controller for example) its pretty damn difficult. if splatoon was on PC, snipers would need a huge nerf otherwise they would be too dominant. people would realize this game is actually a lot simpler on PC than it is on the wii u.
