Multiple playable characters that play differently, but optional like in Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic Advance Trilogy.
Trust me I'm not wanting treasure hunting and mech stages but part of why I love the games listed above is because I can complete the game as characters other than Sonic

Split the 2D and 3D gameplay into two completely distinct series.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (or some other title) and Sonic Adventure 3 (or some other title).
I just want another Sonic OVA and the soundtrack to the first one goddamnit
