The combat isn't complicated, it's all about dancing around the enemy, hitting them with whatever they're weak against, and occasionally chugging potions.

It's really meme-tier for how it breaks the game, but you'll get to suffer a hit without consequence. If you've never played a Witcher game before, it just takes a while to adjust.

Don't tone down the difficulty because that's a bitch move and you'll never git gud. You're probably running into fights headstrong and getting wrecked; that's what my problem was. You need to slow down, pick your shots very carefully and don't force your attacks inside. Think boxing, weave around them, get some shots in then back off and repeat. Don't underestimate your enemies, especially the weaker types that are in groups because if they surround you you're as good as dead.

Honestly, the worst part about the Witcher 3's combat is the same problem that Dark Souls 3 combat suffers from: mandatory player-stuns whenever they hit an enemy more than 3 times in rapid succession.
