Myst is cool and historically important but I'm not sure I'd ever call it a required playing the same way I'd say something like Super Mario Bros. or Tetris is.

I'm 32.
and i've played that shit when it came out and liked it. but in retrospect i can see that it's bad. Nostalgia goggles are off and then you can see the game has nothing but mobile tier puzzles and a lame gameplay, and the final puzzle doesn't even randomize so you can basically finish the game in one minute if you know the solution.

No thanks. Point and click "adventure" games are the epitome of terrible game design. Dispute it all you want, but you wouldn't play a game like this if it didn't have good atmosphere/story. Visual novels are the same thing but without the frustration.

The thing about Myst is you could replace it with any Myst clone and you'd still get the same experience. Therefore that particular game is not required.
