if im using a 7950 gpu and 1080p monitor, this is the best card for me right? or is the rx 480 really bad and i should get an nvidia
>>
I have a 6950 and 2 1080p monitors right now.

That card says its 175% more powerful than my last one, which is sad because I paid close to $300 for a 6950.

Can we preorder these? They come out tomorrow but there is no way im going to be able to get to a store to get one.

Personally, I want to see real performance comparisons that places like digital foundry does before I make a judgement instead of seeing firestrike scores.

Would upgrading from a 660ti be worth?

It was a hell of a card though, I was using a 7950 all the way into 2015 at 1920x1200 without much issue, dumping it for a 285 mostly just because it was a tiny upgrade that was better with MadVR and cost about as much as I sold the 7950 for

Get a better LGA1155 CPU before you commit to it if it's decent mobo, i.e. not a Dell or any other locked-down prebuilt, Sandy Bridge shouldn't be going anywhere gaming-wise

If you're fine with 1920x1080 or 2560×1440, a 480 is fine, if you're going for the 4k meme, start saving up

The 5570 and 5770 were amazing budget cards at the time, being able to run AVP maxed at 1080p was crazy, and my old 5770 is currently my HTPC card. NNEDI3 is pushing it, but it can do Jinc4 fine

It's about time for a new computer overall.
The original card that came with this was a radeon x300, which I swapped out for the 5570 in 2011

Using 970 that I'm still happy with but I've got about 6yo 8150 that bottlenecks the fuck out of it on anything newer than 3 months back.
Total war ranges from 10-80fps, but mostly in 10-25 area + bluescreens on larger battles
Xcom 2 heats the CPU a lot too and it's super noisy with the stock cooler

The 970 they compared it with was the Zotac Amp Extreme, with a stock OC of 1380mhz. Reference 970 is 1178mhz. If you look at benchmarks of bugger, it routinely beat a 980 so long the 3.5gb didn't kick in.

And the RX 480 was a hair behind it. In a Nvidia Game works title. At stock clocks.

Jesus fuck dude you should have sold it and replaced it with a Piledriver model years ago. It uses way less power because they used a SOI process vs bulk.

>Coincidentally the GTX 1060 leaks 1 day before the release of the RX 480

It hurts to be an AMD fan right now.
>>
>>343148837
If you have the money for a 1070, go for it, but even the RX480 being less powerful it will be more future proof than 1070 and 1080 since both can't use DX12 properly and never will. This Preemption bulshit they call async compute is fucked up from the architecture and can't be fixed unless they redesign the pascal architecture.

yet 2x RX480, which are cheaper than one GTX 1080, have better results. Why are you crying, Wojak?
>>
>>343148837
The best card is nvidia. The most bang for the buck card is the 480
>>
>also have an HD7950 hooked up to 2 1080 displays
>kinda want to upgrade but anything new would either be a small increase in performance or overkill for 1080

Feels alright. At least I'm not a console-tard who is going to be locked out of exclusives next year for not buying the same machine twice, so I've got that going for me.
>>
>>343159503
explain the 970 problem, faggot
>>
I don't believe people are saying to wait for the 1060, just buy the 1070 if you want Nvidia, midrange cards from nvidia or are shit or are expensive for the performance. I doubt they would sell a 1060 with 8gigs of RAM for 199 dollars.
>>
>>343155181
i'd replace with a gtx 950. i replace my 5770 and it's a great budget card imo
>>
>>343159661
It is gimped for the ground up? The 390 performs better in most of the cases.
