It was more like a patch fixing the main game than anything else. It made the game great, but by that logic the AoW3 dlc are infinitely better because they turn an even worse game than vanilla civ5 into something better than full-DLC-civ5.

Lonesome road is the best. It has the top tier atmosphere, is accessible to all playstyles, and is the most important in terms of story.
Dead money is 2nd best but is too restrictive and punishing if you dont play in a certain style, but thats part of its charm too. It also takes your shit and when a DLC takes your shit at the start, you know its a crutch
