Most fun I ever had in the game was honestly during WoD launch with chain running challenge mode gold dungeons for two weeks straight to get them all with PUGs. Had to do many of them over and over again, but got a few server bests in the first few days with complete strangers.

They're trying to do that with the Artifact quests. Nothing will live up to the fel quest though, that was superbly tuned.
