Does anyone else play it besides me here?
>>
I've been thinking about buying it
But everyone says it's empty as fuck with nothing to do but watch snow fall
>>
>>343094939
Not for a handful of months now. Its pretty full of stuff.

Before it was empty and everything for scavenging OUTSIDE was menu based. Now its all shit you have to go and find and pick up or harvest outside.

I hate early access, but this and Subnautica are some of the only two I own and its pretty great already.

In another month or two cooking will stop being menu based as well and be more real time and player input.
>>
This looks interesting, but I'm not sure. Sell this game to me.
>>
>>343094665
a little
>>
>>343095270
did they add an option for time going slower?

i think thats what i didnt like about it, or most games like this, dunno why i always gotta be rushed
>>
>>343094665
Nah it's pretty shit. I dropped it a couple hours in and would have refunded it if refunds had existed back then. Completely generic survival game that gives you a shit load of arbitrary restrictions and unrealistic mechanics to force you to do make-work item hunts and repetitive "crafting" in randomly generated locations. The moment I realized that despite having a hatchet and being surrounded by chairs, plants and assorted wooden objects, not only could I not cut stuff up, but I had to find extremely specific types of timber drops by searching boxes and shit, I knew that the game was all downhill.

>>343095486
It's shit.
>>
>>343095486
EMP or something, electromagnet storm, fucks up you and seemingly where you are. You crashed in a plane.

Right now its sandbox only, so no story aside from that.

Sandbox is survival, and as of now the game has a few challenges but are very hard for new players.

You hunt, fish, scavange, explore, and things only spawn once(aside from Animals) so once you use it, its gone. It doesnt seem like an issue but once you hit day 40 and up, you need to be more careful on what things you use.

Huge open world with loading between them. About 4 main areas now, big ones, and a mine system in one of them, and about 2 tiny areas that connect them to each other, those tiny ones are usually rather barren and dangerous if a storm happens.

>>343096073
Everything you just said has been changed. You now CAN cut up all that furniture, nearly everything, even metal. You can also smelt.

Crafting stations are no longer random at all. They are more spread out and in better locations, always one in major locations(garage, Main camp building, Lighthouse/Boat/Dam)

I know what time you are talking about, the game wasnt very good, but its honestly completely different now.
>>
OP is obviously a dev. He has been shilling this game non stop for hours. This is his third attempt at a tread.

The game is generic """"'indie""""" survival game. It sucks
>>
>>343096904

You can't tame a wolf and have a wolf bro who helps you out with hunting and resource finding.
>>
>>343097151
It is a derivitive, boring game with no original ideas.

but early access, good stuff is coming!!
>>
>>343096904

Apparently saying something is boring and giving a reason why is not a good enough reason to dislike a game anymore.
>>
>>343093368
Longest anyone has survived? I'm 75 days in on stalker difficulty currently. But the main reason is that I started it a while ago, got away from the game, an update came out, and it restocked a lot of areas I had already visited with more items. Also, I can't find that god damn hatch that moves around each game
>>
>>343098913
I just would like to know the reasons why it's boring. If someone told you a game was exciting, you'd want to know what makes it yes?
>>
>>343094665
i tried it but found it lacking

I like the "atmosphere" but there's not much to do, it's either tedious trying to manage my tiredness and thirst or just a walking sim.

I ended up refunding it, I might try it again if there's ever a large content update
>>
It's too restrictive with no action to break up the tedium. I guess it's accurate enough for the Canadian wilderness I just don't care for it. The forest was better even with the shoddy survival elements
>>
>>343094665
It has its flaws but I keep coming back purely for the comfy factor. It's gotta be one of the coziest games I've ever played.
>>
>>343100164
while I also think the forest is much better they're not really trying to do the same thing

The Forest is spooky, fast paced and fun and allows for a huge amount of freedom, you can live of the land making temporary shelters, you can build a big base, you can clear out enemies as they don't really respawn, you can build boats and you also have additional objectives like finding the fates of other people who were on the plane.

TLD is "pretty" and bleak

TLD also suffers from poor balancing, it shouldn't take 4 hours to boil snow to make water. I shouldn't get tired so quickly. I shouldn't spend most of my time searching cupboards like I'm playing fallout.

according to this game it's impossible for a human to walk from one side of a small frozen lake to the other without needing to sleep for 8 hours next to a fire while drinking a gallon of water
>>
>>343100637
>4 hours to boil snow
it does not, how much water are you trying to boil lad?
>shouldn't get tired so quickly
do not sprint, I agree even without spriting the bar goes to fast

that's early game lad, the crux of it is exploring the environment and hunting once you've gathered some more shit

You can chop up chairs and shelves for the past 6 months now.

Alot of other improvements too, might wanna give it a shot, your review screams haven't played since early launch.

Doing shit like walking drains your energy. Sprinting drains it faster, even more if you're carrying a ton of shit. The devs even increased the walking speed to compensate.

>>
Will you eventually run out of supplies in the world or do they respawn?
>>
>>343105059
They run out but I think it's technically possible to go forever if you're smart
>>
>>343105059

You'll run out. You can hunt for food, but once your matches go, it gets scary
>>
>>343105336
There's a firestriker you can get and beyond that you can light fires using a magnifying glass
>>
>>343105403

You can, but firestrikes degrades, and magnifying only works sunny
>>
Very much like it, wish there was a fucking story mode already but oh well. I can't live more than a handful of days
>>
>>343105059
certain things will eventually run out. At a certain point all food will expire, clothing will degrade, tools will wear, etc. Food and clothing can be gathered from hunting, eventually you'll run out of ammo for your rifle or won't be able to repair it so you'll have to make bows and arrows to hunt with instead. The only true limiting factor is matches. Once you run out of matches/firestrikers/flares, if you don't have a magnifying lens you'll die because no fire.

>>343105563
lens will work when cloudy, if you need a fire inside make a cheap fire outside then create a torch.
>>
>>343105890
I think in the next update they said that they'll add primitive firemaking, like a bow drill, which means that fire won't be the limiting factor anymore
>>343105890
You don't need a torch, you can just take a brand from the outside fire inside to start your new one
>>
Can't really make a sustainable base right?
>>
I have a hard time living more than a few days, tips?
>>
>>343101362
>Steam reviews
>le start game, le see wolfies 10/10 would paly again xD
>>
>>343106550
Loot EVERYTHING
Use your ears, stay away from wolves
Don't run unless you need to
Keep your gear load down as much as possible
Don't be afraid to just sit down for a while and build a fire if you're a ways from shelter
Making a fire and then sleeping next to it for like an hour in your bedroll will do good things for the cold
>>
>>343106476
TLD has less crafting that The Last of Us
>>
>>343094665
I've put almost 10 hours into it. Love the atmosphere, sound design is top-notch.

I won't say the interface is terrible, but it is extremely unintuitive. I spent more time than I care to admit figuring out how to use a stove to melt snow. Turns out there's a pretty small sweet spot you have to click on in order to even access the cooking menu.
That needs to be fixed. In a game where you are slowly dying every second, I shouldn't have to be figuring out whether some action requires a crafting menu dialogue, or a left click on some part of the object.

I'm optimistic about it, but won't put much more time into it until Story Mode comes out.
>>
>>343106476
You can, but really only once you got a bow and arrow.
>>
>Stalked by wolves during a snowy night
>Their eyes glow in the dark just outside the reach of your light source
>Wolf jump you and you fight it off with only your knife
>Bandage yourself and kill the pain with pills

>>
>>343100637
this, some things are unrealistically difficult. I ate a dear I shot and cooked, went to bed and woke up 3 hours later "starving"
>>
>>343108615
yeah that's fucking weird, a deer should last a single person months with no problem
>>
>>343108615
it really shouldnt be like that now, sleeping takes WAY less calories. You can sleep for 4 hours only using about 150-200
>>
>>343109353
i had to only sleep 3 hours at a time because i would be dying of dehydration if i slept for 6-8
>>
Frankly I'd refund the game but it's way too much hassle to do so if I'm only getting £5 back from it. There aren't any other £5 I want to buy anyway.

It's just too tedious and the major balancing issues take me out of the experience.

>>
>>343094665
I put some 20 hours into it ar this point. Really great game, I enjoy the hell out of it despite its somber yet beautiful atmosphere.
>>
>>343100884
>not having rabbit mittens, deer hide leggings and boots, and wolf pelt jacket and leisurely walking around the world without worry of cold
>>
>>343108615
Yeah, you degrade too quickly in the game. You get deathly tired way too fast, like one small jog and you're falling apart. If you get a full nights sleep you're dying of thirst and starving to death, ect. They need to seriously decrease the rate at which those bars decrease.
>>
>>343112619
not sure if they can, the easy mode just turns it into a walking sim (which the game basically is anyway)

The idea of managing your calories and whatnot is cute I guess but resource management like that doesn't work in compressed real time. It's something that would make sense in This War of Mine or something like that
