Did you find Star road by yourself?
>>
>>343090718
Yup. Accidentally found the secret in the first boo house. Got pretty excited and told my babysitter that I found more game inside my game.
>>
>>343090718
finding star road isn't as hard as finding out that there are secrets on each star road level to find the special world
but yes i did
>>
>>343090718
It was a joint effort between me, my mom, aunt, and cousin.

You should know that by default.
Red dot levels always have 2 exits. Yellow dot levels only have one.
>>
I think my dad found it first. He used to play the shit out of Mario World, but never touched any other vidya. My mom was the same way with Mario Kart.

I was the first one to find that motherfucker of a hidden level, Soda Lake, though. Like fourteen years later.
>>
>>343091163
Blue was the best but I always like stomping shit with yellow.
>>
>>343090936

It's a sad life realizing that with the direction video games are going, nobody will ever find more game in their new games ever again.
>>
>>343090718
Yes, I first found the one in the Forest of Illusion, then the Donut Plains Star Warp, then the one in Vanilla Dome, the one in the Valley of Bowser, and finally the one in the fourth world (Cookie Mountain/Soda Lake/the bridges). Actually, I found the secret exit in the fourth Star Road level, didn't beat the fifth level at first, later got the secret exits for the first three levels after finding the Donut Plains warp, and finally did find both exits in the fifth level.

I honestly never noticed that until I replayed the game when I was like... 14 or something. Back when I first played it when I was 5 or whatever the hell I was, I think I just played the game and beat it. God damn it the SNES was a good system to grow up with.

>>

>>

Which one was Gnarly again? I remember Tubular being the real ball-buster, but last time I replayed the game I had a lot of trouble with the one in the woods, which I didn't remember bothering me that much when I was younger.

Also despite finding every secret exit, I never noticed that stages with one have a red dot instead of yellow until I played it again as an adult.

There were two moments in my life where I was geniunely amazed at finding shit in a game. First was Star Road and the special stages and second was that you could return to Kanto in Pokemon Gold/Silver and actually earn all badges there. I honestly felt as if my game world suddently doubled in size and my mind was blown by it.

Every Pokemon game would be so much better if they let you go back to an older region. Being able to go back to Kanto is a huge reason HeartGold is still my favourite Pokemon game. That and the fact they kinda pulled out all the stops since they were originally going to end it there is pretty good too.
>>
>>343095713
i still haven't beaten heart gold/soul silver enough to get to kanto. is it really better than the original?

It looks a lot better, for one. But that aside, they included all the Pokemon from Diamond/Pearl and filled it with a fistful of events, and walking around with whichever Pokemon is at the top of your list is a pretty neat thing they've never done again. I'm also a sucker for those extra Pokeballs you can make. Being able to call literally every single gym leader and the Elite Four AND the Champion for an even harder rematch is really fuckin' neato too.
>>
>>343096203
>Being able to call literally every single gym leader and the Elite Four AND the Champion for an even harder rematch is really fuckin' neato too.
this i did not know about, but what i meant was how much more fleshed out kanto is.
>>
>>343092510
Same. Such bullshit.
>>
>>343090718
I did, there was a console at this family restaurant type thing that I could play at. I was pretty good at games back then so I managed to get through levels quickly. Didn't really know I found something secret at that time though, just though I found some weird shortcut like the whistle in SMB3.

A few years back I replayed this game on an emulator and found it again. Pretty cool that they included so much "hard to find" secret content.

Too bad its very time consuming to add this much extra content to games nowadays. The only game I've played in the last few years that gave you a ton of optional hidden content were DS1 and DS3.
>>
>>343096318
Kanto is actually pretty barren, to be honest. Wild Pokemon are pretty much identical in level and location to what they were in R/B/G which makes grinding a pain in the ass, and there isn't much to do other than fight the gym leaders there. It's the kind of thing that's better in concept than execution, but seeing some characters return helps make up for it.
>>
>>343096318
>the rematch is day and hour locked

There's no point in creating secret content anymore, because:
A: It will be found hours after release and posted on every fucking website that exists
B: It will never be found until the devs themselves reveal it (happened with Arkham Asylum)
>>
>>343097850
>(happened with Arkham Asylum)

Theres some genealogy improvements in areas that they obviously ran out of time for originally. Viridian Forest, Seafoam gym , and Fuchsia (Safari zone turned into the Pal Park for transfers) all got improved for example

The one time I can think of being amazed at finding extra content was accidentally stumbling upon the second half of Symphony of the Night. Other than that, a really retarded moment from the first time I played Kingdom Hearts when I was 12. I went to the Colosseum and didn't know you had to attempt to push the block to get Phil to continue on with the level, so I beat the entire game without doing any of the Colosseum, thinking the game was bugged. Then I went back and tried it and blew my way through all the cups because I was like level 70.
