What the fuck are with the graphics, it looks like a shitty Unreal Engine 4 fan game.

I know right? Yes it's true a lot of shitty indie games are made on Unity, but that doesn't mean Unity itself is bad.

I still don't know what i should think about them keeping the overall artstyle - not that i don't like ss1 artstyle but this really looks like they just ported the map into unity so there are limitations visable they had back in the day but shouldn't be in a modern game.
>>
>>343091435
most of the times its just a chance to preorder the game early, with a few added benefits. most people don't go for the 100+ dollar packages
>>
>>343092485
That's mostly because the engine is so accessible that a lot of lazy people got their hands on it.
UE4 has the same issue now, I've seen a lot of really shitty kickstarters with that engine.

The engine is just a tool, talent and hard work is what defines the quality of the game resulting from it.
>>
>>343092641
gotta go uncompressed for dat speed, yo
>>
>>343092485
Unity itself isn't that bad of an engine, but since it's available to anyone you see much more shitty games made with it.
Isn't the engines fault that a lot of talentless people use it.
>>
>>343092695

Nope. All games I've played that use the unity engine have been all really, really bad. So bad that the Unity logo before a game has become a red herring.
I'm never paying for another Unity game ever again.

Deal with it.

My biggest gripe is that the amazing HUD from the first game telling you what you can interact with is really gimped in this version. I don't mind it for cool weapons, it makes sense for a Super Shotgun or BFG9000, but there should be no hype for grabbing a fucking pipe.

If they want to add that character to the guns then they should just do idle animations.

looks ok.

I find hand animations retarded in fps games.

Despite this setting a good precedent with the playable demo I will not back this game or any other kickstarters. The game has likely been financed.

So, they need to fucking answer this already.
Is this a fucking remake or a god damn reboot?
I played the demo, and from my admittedly bad memory of System Shock 1, it was a 1 for 1 remake of it.

If it's just a 1 to 1 remake, then I'm not interested. I want unique events and levels.

I do hope we evolve sufficiently so that nobody will want a remaster of infinite in 10-20 years.

The demo was really nothing like the original. It feels like a similar transition from Doom to Doom 4 gameplay wise. The atmosphere feels completely different.

They already turned the gameplay into bioshock so it'd be accurate.

p. good fampai, more than I realized actually
I do make a distinction between Shock-like games where the audio logs are important to the gameplay and also present a large chunk of the story, and between Tomb Raider-like stuff where the logs are basically glorified collectibles.

Why are they advertising it with Shodan?

It's like they know half the hype around SS2 is people who heard they should like it but have never actually played anything beyond bioshock 1

I hope you understand what you are saying, because that's would mean they are taking the system shock formula and splicing it between modern horror games. Now I don't want to be a negative nancy but the horror games of today would have worse an influence IMO than the shooters.

I feel like the only saving grace is that it's being worked on by the old Devs who are fucking magicians when it comes to constraints.
But a lack of experience and practice makes me wonder, and has there really been a good example of "dev comes to remake a game they haven't worked on in over a decade"?

Just beat the demo

Graphically, the game looks pretty good, and is pretty much just the station from SS1.

However, the combat is pretty mediocre. Your movement speed is WAY too low, the pipe does about not damage, and the enemies have a longer reach than you. Definitely wished they had leaned more towards the original in that regard.

This is only a "pre-alpha", so I'm hoping they will improve on it in the future.

In regards to the original, the enemies on the first floor were pretty much nothing, you could easily kill them in 1-2 hits with the pipe. In the demo I literally sat and hit a zombie in the face 5 times before it died, it shouldn't take that long to kill the weakest enemy in the game.

Games cost a lot of money, believe it or not
