To be fair, when the Xbox 360 was shown to the public, at 720p, it looked better than the majority of gaming PCs on the market and really offered visuals similar to the Radeon 9800 Pro.
Beyond this it offered all this at a cheaper price point than buying the Radeon 9800 Pro. You can argue that this was because it did it at 1280x720 but at that time, with a 720p TV, it really did look impressive at the time.
