The only problem I have is that I installed CFW and rxtools when it first got popular. Now an entirely different method is used, and I have no idea how to upgrade to the newest firmware. I can't play online, and some games I can't even play without updating.

That's the upsetting part, I've been using RxTools+Ctrbootmanager since January with zero problems and switching to Luma3DS was brain dead simple.
If I'm having this much trouble just trying to inject GBA games or set up a9lh it'd be best if I back up my saves, wipe fucking everything and start over. Sysnand is still on 9.2 so starting over should be simple.
But god damn if I didn't lose sleep over this.

Yeah that's why the newest method is great because you can keep your 3DS updated and play online. I'm pretty sure you can use it even with rxtools, if anything it'll just make it so you have to do less steps.

At first, i was afraid of doing the hack because afraid of bricking, but i grew some and followed the guide at /hbg/ and hours later i was playing SNES games on the 3DS.
Just follow the guide and DON'T skip steps. It's a long guide but it's worth it. Also, before that, be sure to get a 16 or 32 GB SD.

I do use brawlcustommusic to get BCSTM files if I need to replace some. The Simple Eggman theme on there feels much better with E.G.G.M.A.N. playing.
