Big publishers approach successful smaller companies all the time. Usually it ends it a hilarious tale:
EA approaches Valve for a billion dollars, Gaben tells them to go fuck themsleves.
EA approaches CD Projekt Red with an offer, and they break down into CYKA BLYAT GIT OUT OF COUNTRY!
But every now and then, it goes wrong and the publisher succeeds and the result is either the death of the company, (As with so many)... or the zombifiication of the company where they pump out year after year of shitty sequel until no one buys anything from them anymore, at which point everyone is fired and the whole thing is shut down.

Fuck I miss it. It wasn't perfect but showed up around the time I think a lot of us wanted to enjoy wow again but just couldn't stomach retail. I really wish they would just make a russian server and stop trying to be these "legacy ambassador" faggots. I get that not everyone wants "old" wow but blizzard are dicks for shutting down a server that made 0 profit while the current vanilla server kronos sells all kinda of shit and doesn't even fix their server or regularly update.
