This depends on how they do this. I don't have any faith in Bioware so I expect there to be massive holes in the game's writing which might be filled in if you read the books.
Ideally, the game itself needs to be self contained, everything you need to enjoy the game's story should be in the game and easily accessible so anyone who picks up the game and just plays it alone will understand the main story and appreciate it. Books can provide extra supplementary stories which give a broader perspective but shouldn't be required for the enjoyment of the core story. Basically if you need to read those books to understand characters, factions or motivations within the game's story, the game has failed.
Though honestly, I couldn't give a fuck about Andromeda. Bioware shit the bed last time and I don't expect they'll avoid repeating themselves. I expect a very mediocre soft science fiction series more or less repeating the mistakes of the original.
