They're not even going for the same thing. I enjoy Stalker much better though. Metro is way too scripted for me. I did enjoy them when I played them but I haven't really had any desire to replay them.

I like having an inventory like in Stalker and actually having the items on my character rather than just pressing a button and having the items be used. 2033 is better in this aspect as you can actually equip grenades and knives but they ruined it in LL. But yeah, inventory > keys linked to pockets. You also don't have a weapon limit in Stalker outside of how many you can carry. It just has a better gameplay design, or at least one that appeals to me more, and so feels so much better to play, even more if you add in the linear vs more open aspect.

Way too many impatient ADHD rookies do this, unfortunately. However, I'd guess that majority of your kind of people are not aware of few of the game's features:

1) bullet physics. There's no hit-scan guns.
2) RPG-like progression when it comes to gear. Starting stuff is shit, later gear better.
3) Using crosshair, instead of ADS. Low-crouch and single-shot firing mode also help A LOT.

Once you get a scope on your AK, you will start popping heads left and right.

But skyrim and fallout are console games

People are just sick of shitty open worlds that have not much going on in them, which was very much a problem with skyrim.

Stalker's premise of being super danger fucked up death zone where you scavenge to survive and find powerful valuable radiationmagic artifacts was super hype though

Stalker is the best open world fps game ever made, while metro is a very atmospheric, but standard fps game. I'll take Stalker.

depends on what you want, metro is a linear story game, whereas stalker is an open world quest based game that focuses more on exploration are readiness inventory to survive the zone.

Sounds like your PC is shit, because I already ran SoC on DX9, med-high settings, 1024x768, > 30fps average, back in 2007, with P4 2.4Ghz, 3GB DDR1 and Geforce 6600GT 128mb.

My current i5 2500 + 8GB DDR3 + GTX 560ti has no problems running the games at DX9-11 modes, 1920x1200, all but in-game AA maxed up (it doesn't even work on dynamic lighting modes). Even with various mods, I still get 50+ fps by average.

That being said, you could try the Starter Packs. The visual mods included CAN also improve performance a huge deal, especially when installed on lower quality / max performance settings.

Metro

i love Stalker but when it comes replaying one of them i rather choose Metro.
Plus it has way better gameplay
>>
>>343043562
both are good but STALKER because you can explore at your pace and are not being railroaded or forced to follow around AI

best parts of metro were when you were alone
>>
STALKER.
Metro is very short, linear, has forced autosaving and one way paths that really fuck you if you want to backtrack, less interesting guns and gun mechanics, less interesting enemies, is very scripted, is simple (no artifacts, no concept of inventory), and I don't even like the plot even though the game focuses so much on it. There is no draw to replay the game, either. I still haven't been able to convince myself to give the sequel a chance.

>>343050678
Your guns suck total ass without a mod in the beginning of SoC. It won't become better until toward the end of the 2nd area or so. All you can really do is aim for the head, lean, and try not to get pincered.

European medieval and ancient architecture is always nice to see, i'm a sucker for architecture that are older than 200+.
NY is interesting to see for all those skyscrappers and billboards, same with other games that feature high tech cities (so stuff like sleeping dogs, gta IV).
So basically, extra old things or super new things are interesting because I don't have much around.
For actual comfy landscape ETS covered it pretty well with fields and forests, it only lacked snowy settings. Forests + snow is perfection.
>>
Why do people like STALKER? I've tried it twice, but it looks and runs like shit and I just don't understand the attraction to it. Is there something I'm missing? I mean, graphics don't bother me usually but the scariest thing about Pripyat is its Pop-in.

I remember getting Stalker when it went on sale just to see what it was about, years ago; I remember getting so enamored of the game's fiction and atmosphere.

There was some town full of gray-suited military dudes, I remember killing their leader and stealing his shit, then slowly murdering my way out of the complex, ascending a high point, and pot-shotting anybody who looked at me funny.

Found out later I fucked myself out of some good times later, but I enjoy a game that lets me ruin the experience as badly as I've ruined my life.

If you enjoy stalker, you will enjoy the metro games as well.

They are more story driven, since a large portion of the game is spent inside metro tunnels, however there are optional areas and sub sections, that allow for secrets / limited exploring for ammunition and items.

I mostly enjoy the atmosphere really. Captures the apocalyptic feel very well.

I hear the newer versions suffer from downgraded lighting which effects the atmosphere.

Can't comment past that, as I don't own the revamped versions.

Stay far away from Redux 2033, get the original. Redux Last light is basically a GOTY anyway just a DLC bundle and I don't think you can get vanilla LL anymore if you wanted it anyway.

2033 Redux ruined Artyom's voice, the atmosphere, the lighting, the AI, the stealth, and they also gave Artyom a digital watch instead of his analog one
