Why the fuck does it cost me 40k to get an entire set of grandmaster armor????????

10/10 expansion so far though
>>
>>343040520
I haven't finished it yet, but I fucking loved them giving me an entire vineyard that I got to repair. Enjoyed that bit way too much.
>>
Having to track down the witcher stuff yet again is stopping me from playing it again.
>>
>>343040520
>manticore armor having as much armor as wolf
But why.
>>
>>343040520
Finished my full Viper set, Grandmaster Wolven

Think I'm gonna get Manticore next, have more Touissant quests and main story but the Viper set looks really sick and has a shit ton of resists and poison immune
>>
>>343040520
Just use a console to get the money, who gives a shit..
>>
>>343040679
>spend 10k repairing it
>spend another 10k adding shit to it

>broke as fuck and cant afford grandmaster

fuck
>>
>>343041863
I generally never ever cheat in a game, but those armor makers in TW3 are greedy as all fuck, so I started using the addmoney command once HoS rolled around.
>>
>>343041137
Viper is goat

viper>feline=wolven>ursine=manticore>>>>cut my eyes out >>>>>griffin
>>
>>343040520
Hey guys, I own every single witcher game and havent played any of them. Can I just start the bitcher 3 or is it essential i play them all
>>
>>343041947
Yeah im not a fan of just adding money but i feel like im going to have to finally cave in for this game, i just cant see how i can get all my grandmaster sets if i dont
>>
And you fags said the game throws money at you.
>>
>>343042078
Well it kinda did in the base game and then they swung it around the complete opposite way in the dlc
>>
What's the lore behind Griffins' convex chest piece?
>>
>>343040520
If you're on pc just download console command. Steam achievement doesn't turn off. Finished blood march with god mode and still got the achievement.
>>
>>343042078
I just sold my alchemy and armor materials that I didn't need. I hoarded that stuff in the base game so when HoS and BaW came out I had almost 50k to spend.

>>
>>343040520

You're supposed to craft it while advancing through the expansion. I also thought the same when I started but ended up with enough crowns to craft all the armors at the end.
>>
I'm in Novigrad and just had the seauance lady help me dream clues of ciri. I fuckin love this game, really upset that I didn't just pick this up immediately and play it solely. I got uncharted collection and arkham knight with this and I only needed TW3, puts them all to shame.
>>
How does the stash work? Are they universal in that I can access any of them and see the same contents?
>>
>>343042852
Yes.
>>
If you're worried about using a console, you can also use the ol' beehive trick in white orchard. Got around 100k in like 20 minutes doing it.
>>
>>343040520
The armour I got from winning the tournament outclasses all the grandmaster gear, though. Can witcher gear be upgraded further?
>>
>>343040520
>Why the fuck does it cost me 40k
How do you have no money? The base game throws it at you. Like >>343042423 said, you amount of alchemy parts and weapon/armor mats you get can easily give you tens of thousands of coin. When the Blood and Wine DLC hit I had 25k and easily over 100k in mats that could be sold.
>>
Are Witcher books actually any good in English? All I've heard is supposedly the short stories are best.
>>
>>343043169
The short stories are the best because they focus on Geralt. You can go entire chapters in the mainline books without hearing about him.

why is the viper set never included?

does it not have a grandmaster upgrade? or even a mastercrafted one for that matter?

i still haven't gotten it yet, so i dunno
>>
BEEHIVE AND THE DORF
>>
>>343043647
its heart of stone dlc exclusive
>>
>>343043570
There's a beehive behind a house in NW white orchard, that you can knock down and Aard over to that faggot blacksmith dwarf. When the bees kill him, you can loot everything he had on him with no consequences; mats, money, etc. Then you meditate for an hour and he respawns with everything he had prior to the looting.

It also creates a pretty amusing pile of identical dead dwarves, too.
>>
>>343043575
I read the books after I played the games and I was a little taken back by how fast the short stories progress. Like in some of them the characters are barely introduced if I hadn't played the game before hand I would be very confused. I eventually got used to it and loved the books, I guess I'm not used to the speed of short stories?
>>
>nothin personel kid
I hate the Grandmaster Feline set so fucking much
>>
Nope, B&W's Grandmaster armors were Cat, Griffin, Bear, Wolf and Manticore.

Viper was just added into HoS because I think people were bothering cdred about the Viper swords in White Orchard and why wasn't there a full suit of Viper gear, so they put in diagrams for one tier into that first xpac
>>
Anyone have any tips for ways to approach questing/exploring immersion and getting the most ouf of a first playthrough?

I just started NG. What armor set is good if you want to be a potion maniac? I was a sword fag for my entire first play through. I started this time on deathmarch difficulty.
>>
>>343044350
>>343044265
I've disabled the minimap and my only HUD is lifebars, which is fine, but removing POI would just make it take forever to do anything. Right now im passing by so many quests because i dont want to be overleveled for the main quests so i have to leave some behind sometimes, im just worried about missing a really good side quest

My god it's such a sexy set. Any good dyes for it or is default the best?

mfw I got Aerondight back.
>>
>>343045302
Absolutely.
When I first started TW1, I didn't even get beyond the courtyard in Kaer Morhen because I hated the combat.
Then, some years later, I tried it again, gave it a chance and had a blast.
But the combat system polarizes: Either you will accept it or you hate it forever. In the latter case you will miss out on an awesome game.
>>
>>343045302
Yeah. If you get past bloody baron and still don't like it you might just not like it though.
>>
>>343045123
Sword
Signs
Potions

They all essentially revolve around sword combat so i can see why youre confused. The skill tree shows all three plus one generalised section for overall stuff.

>sword tree
you improve you sword moves, can add spin moves and deflect arrows etc

>signs tree
get to improve your signs until you can melt a guy in his armor or your quen is almost invincible

>potions
apparently the most op, ive done the other two only. mate says you turn into a killing machine with the right potions after this tree

naturally different armor lends itself to diff play styles, cat armor works for a sword fighter while griffin works for a potion guy
>>
>>343045302
Imma be fair with ya bud cause it's 50/50. Do you like great stories or just want a great gameplay?

What are some graphics settings that really make the game look better? I've got a not so great pc (750 ti and an i7) and im trying to find a combination of mediums, highs and ultras to get a good looking game with godo fraemrate (ive already cut foliage to low because i dont care about that)
>>
>>343045574
Steel is absolutely unimportant. I only have the wolven steel sword for the gear bonus.
>>
>>343045535
That's also a ability in the sword tree. I think it's the very bottom right one? You sure you don't have it equipped?
>>
>>343045538
Not sure if they nerfed ignii but i recall being able to charge in and unleash the sun if i had some petris potion. Youre doing what i did p much. A lot more fun to deflect arrows and go back and forth with swords with humans in the dlc

With the hood down it's arguably my favourite armour in the game, aesthetically. Wolf and Bear are impractical-looking as fuck, Griffin is nice and functional but a bit too heavy and knightly-looking for my taste, but Cat strikes the perfect balance between functional armour and looking like everyday Witcher gear - brigandine vest for the torso, mail shirt underneath, tassets and rerebraces for the thighs and arms, and cuir boulli greaves for the legs. It's good protection, but simple and not at all flashy. I wear it with bear gauntlets and generic slashed poofy pants, though, mostly for fashion.

Rend is pretty much the most overpowered sword based skill in the game, JUST for the fact that it can't be blocked/parried. Also doing 4k+ a hit with little to no charge doesn't hurt.

Pattens didn't come about as a result of pointy shoes, they came about because pre-Modern Europe was muddy as shit and shitty as mud too. At the time, they were a very practical solution to the problem of keeping mud and shit off your feet, letting you go around town in your nice shoes without also ruining them forever.

Japanese geta are the same sort of thing that originated for the same reasons, except they stayed in fashion over there for far longer on account of the fact that clean paved streets everywhere didn't come about until the late Edo and Meiji periods. You can look at Kurosawa's period films to get a good visual representation of the sort of shit they had to deal with whenever it rained.

It doesn't matter that much. Ursine(heavy) has decent synergy to have more HP but in vanilla it doesn't really matter, beat death march with wolven armor and most points in alchemy(also delusion for dialogue and maybe fast attack damage upgrade). In B&W you will deal fuck all damage until you get euphory when it becomes broken(drink 3 decoctions get shitload of damage forever, still have space to chug normal potions for 25% heal, get thunderbolt for even more damage). In B&W i switched to manticore because that and decoction for +1 alchemy uses let me heal all the time for free.

Both but thunderbolt is instant, by the time you get 3 points for 30% damage(on top of maxed euphory) shit's usually dead unless it's a major boss. Decoctions are biggest boosts to damage anyway, with manticore set and a yellow skill you can get 3 to keep that shit maxed for hours, thunderbolt or whatever you want is just a cherry on top.

There are a few lvl 25-30 side quests you can just grab off the notice boards from the start, don't think there's any non-DLC content that goes up to 40 on NG though.
Also, there's a bunch of free DLC quests, not the big expansion packs. You might have those installed.

>>
On the matter of DLC - is B&W only accessible after the main story? What are the prerequisites?
Because I started NG+ and the HoS mission was already available at the seven cats inn, but when I go to the stonecutter settlement, the toussaint knights apparently are already camping there, but they are nowhere to find and that cutscene also doesn't play.
>>
>>343060434

Depends, if you value gameplay over narrative then you'll likely be disappointed. It's genuinely this gens Last of Us. It's a solid game with a generic yet well told plot and realized characters with not much depth or substance outside of that.

Solid 7/10 imo. H&S is better than the base game and B&W is around the same quality as the base game.

I actually enjoyed the gameplay in TLoU more than Witcher 3.

Sure it's more linear (why is this suddenly bad?) but the gameplay was pretty well varied and felt excellent. Stealth worked well, hand 2 hand/gunplay was satisfying as fuck but the puzzles (lel) sucked donkey dick.

Witcher 3s biggest issue was variety imo, shit puts me off repeat playthroughs because I Know outside of maybe a few different lines of dialogue, the experience will be near identical.

>>343040520
I was able to make all the grand master gear. just loot everything and dismantle everything, you'll never have to buy ingredient ever. and if you find gold stuff or jewelry just sell it instead of dismantling it, I mean it's nice to have a few gems on hand if you need them for crafting but dismantling cost money and you'll end up selling most gold silver and gems, but dismantling weapons and armor is a good thing to do, you'll always have the basest ingredients for crafting, I never had to buy shit for my witcher gear, just a process of figuring out what to dismantle or what to craft. it was still fucking expensive though. I was able to do all the upgrades on the vineyard estate and upgrade the arab guys shop a couple times before completing the game. I wasn't able to craft all the witcher swords though.

there are not very many good alchemy skills, i'd recommend acquired tolerance, synergy, protective coating and killing spree. do not take hunter instinct, it's bugged and does nothing because cdpr still refuses to fix skill and potion bugs after more than a year after they've been reported
