They give an in-universe explanation for the no clothes thing.
The monsters they fight have the ability to chew/break through anything. If one manages to get you you're basically done so there's no point in wearing any form of armour. Instead they can wear whatever makes them feel comfortable ad long as it's light and easy to move around in.
It also covers the lack of any form of proper armour stat and lets you customise your outfit without the restriction of armour covering it up.
