It was originally developed on stock arcade hardware which is what you see on the left. Sony helped push for a console version by letting them develop the game on what is basically PS4 hardware adapted slightly for the arcades.
Basically, it lets them port the game to the consoles much more easily when the game is complete enough to make a real port. There's no PS4 version yet but there inevitably will be one.

Kuja didn't do shit, ExDeath ultimately didn't do shit either since killing him restored everything exactly to the way it was before it got swallowed by the Void. The only FF villains that actually achieved their goals are Garland/Chaos (held the world in his grip for countless loops), Palamecia (killed a fuckton of people, conquered the world, killed God and Lucifer and took their place), Kefka (destroyed the fucking world, permanently fucking it up beyond repair and killed countless people while becoming THE God of Magic), Yu Yevon (ruled the world as dominant diety for 1000 years), Vayne (accomplished his goal of ending the rule of the Occuria and brought the reins of destiny back in the hands of man) and Barthandelus (forced the party to complete their focus, summon Ragnarok, kill Orphan and destroy Cocoon).
I'm not counting sequels and spinoffs.

Personally I think the story is good in Ceodore's, Kain's and the Gathering/Final Tale chapters. It's just that all those chapters in-between are shit (Rydia's, Yang's, Palom's, Edge's, Porom's and Edward's).
You could remove those "filler" chapters and pretty much not lose a thing, or at least simplify them all to 1 much shorter ensemble chapter with a lot less groundhog day revisiting of FF4 dungeons.
Technically Lunarians Chapter is filler too but I actually liked that one despite being "rehash-y" in nature. If only because you get to see Golbez literally solo Zeromus.

Lancet and Laguna in general are the main reasons why i hate that train. The Train works for Kain way more than it should be you have less room to dodge him even though shit like sky rave and rising drive is nerfed there.
